damn nice flametop Greco, Akira... where did you get that from?

Thanks MrE.i got it off ebay from jpn.

hi.. care to share how much is the shipping cost?

Shipping by EMS is US$90.Not too sure whether there's any inflation right now.For bolt on type guitars should be slightly cheaper since you can separate the body & neck to fit into smaller packing. And yes japanese sellers packed the shipment very generously & safely.

Hahaha... killinghall, its just a quirky stab lah. ;) Chill... but realy, go check it out. Its ridiculous what ppl would pay for an original PAF. Itslike the grail of tone. And yes, to them, its that ONE tone... strange eh? :P

I guess it would be holy grail of tones if the gibby is from the 70's era which cost a bomb :) as the wood would have "aged" really well to bring the magic out of a gibby.I may be wrong here.

Just curious there seem to be a number of gibby players who are selling their axe when it's barely a year old.Change of taste?Poor quality? What do you guys think? My apologise should gibby owners feel offended. :)

haha. its great to see so many Les Paul fans here. Well im using a Lp copy. a aria one. Fitted with SD 59 in neck and Dimarzio fred in bridge. and it sings prety well. I just have a problem with the sustain as its a bolt on and the neck. Its playability isnt all that great though. :)

They probably din know what they wanted when they bought it. Impluse buy or something, if it was a bad guitar you would know if you tried it first before buying it. Gibson QC is a bit wonky shld always try one first.

i always hated the wood on my epi les paul because it much lighter than the other les pauls out there. feels cheapskate. and my wood does really resonate the sound. so i get a very responsive 'jeng'.

i accidentally whacked the headstock on the corner of the wall at home a few days ago. something fell to the floor. i thought it it would be gone. scratches cracks chips.

but there was not even a single scratch eh. the wall got chipped quite a lot :)

i have a 1997 epiphone les paul standard. made in korea. stock pups changed to duncans alnico pro 2.

it has these vintage green tuners, not like the new chrome or gold kind. i prefer the vintage ones, but i feel that they go out of tune VERY easily. anyone has the same problem? or is it just old and needs replacement?

and also where can i get such vintage tuners which are of good quality (can hold strings in tune well) and are of a reasonable price?

Bro how's the alnico's on your axe?Made in korea epi should'nt be light weight compared to made in china ones as i had one before. It was a 96 production one though. There is a method i saw somewhere online where you could diy or tighten the screw of your tuners to prevent it from going out of tune.I might be wrong :)

It could be the pickup height to string that could be killing your sustain.Try lowering the pickup from the current height & see whether there's any difference. It's worth a try :)

akira: oh okay.. well think abt giving it a try. thanks! haha. but the last set up was done by ppl at guitar connection as i was changing pups and all.

Anyway. what string gauge do you guys use on your Les pauls? or what brands ? care to share? :)

I use GHS Boomers 10's as was posted in another topic somewhere.Been using it for years.Pretty lasting ( rust, oxidise, snap easily etc ) & doesn't stretch fast as i ernie slinky dat i tried before.Once it's start to sound dull is the time for new strings for me.

i use dr coated.. the harmonic response is there.. but there is a slight lack of brightness.. but thats ok cuz i want dark heavy sound anyway... and it heasn;t rusted yet... been using it for the past month already..

anyone who changed their tuners on their les pauls? i am using the stock vintage ones. can't hold tune well.

any recomendations?
