Thanks to those who have uploaded the pics. :D Your axes look stunning.Pls keep it coming.A full pic of the axe would be great.Btw how to upload pics?Neva tried it before. Will post mine after getting a DC :(

I'm using an Epiphone Lespaul Custom 50th Anniversary model. Can't afford the gibson one actually. Hope to get a Tokai or Edwards Lespaul in the future.

i have a 1997 epiphone les paul standard. made in korea. stock pups changed to duncans alnico pro 2.

it has these vintage green tuners, not like the new chrome or gold kind. i prefer the vintage ones, but i feel that they go out of tune VERY easily. anyone has the same problem? or is it just old and needs replacement?

and also where can i get such vintage tuners which are of good quality (can hold strings in tune well) and are of a reasonable price?

hey there mella.. yeah.. suffering same problem.. nay advice?? love the vintage green kluson tuners.. any good quality ones there?? and what nut should i change the lp to??

peeps..

what pickups do u guys install in your les pauls?? i have fred and paf joe in it now.. neck sounds sweet when spilt.. but sound way to bassy... tryin to adjust the height to see if theres much diff.. but not much.. paf joe also seem to overpower fred... thinkin of chgin pickups.. any reccomendations??

Apparently you didn't adjust them well. A FRED is like 300 mA output? A PAF Joe is 272mA?

hey ciel... i was gassing for a Gibson LP classic in that tobacco sunburst for a while... heh... it's very Slash yah

sorry to ot,but is ther much diff. between a set-neck les paul n 1 with a bolt-on neck?

yes. definitely. a bolt on will not sustain as long as a set-neck.

the vibrations (and therefore the sound) will dissipate (fade) faster in a bolt-on due to the minute (very small) gaps at the neck joint relative to a set-neck.

also, the heavier combined (as in continuously-joined) mass of a set-neck makes the whole guitar reverberate (vibrate) longer too; pretty much like how a heavier pendulum will keep oscillating (swinging) for a longer period than a lighter one.

sorry if that sounded like a sec 4 physics lesson. hope u understand why sustain will be longer in a set-neck :D

Ya i got it cuz it had the 60s neck i was looking for and it was cheaper than a standard so good for me. Din like flametops either so it worked out. Only difference in standards and classics is the grade of the top and different inlays.

yes there is a difference although theortically a good fitting bolt neck is as good as a set neck but thn you usually find the bolt on necks on lower end les paul copies so i don't know how good the joint is. But thn if you have a badly made joint on a set neck it wont be very good either.

Just play the guitar if it works for you thn its good.

We all probably seen the cut away picture of the les paul neck joint with the rounded bottom on the short tennon, i've seen another of a guy who took his apart to do a repair and his tennon was not as rounded so not all of the Gibsons les pauls are made tt badly. Check out the link the tennon is quite flat actually. So like i said play a few to find a good one.
