yeah i hear you bro... that's the characteristic of ceramics... but can be good for hard rock IMO. as usual, it boils down to personal preference.

but right now i'm in your camp, i prefer the smoother kinda tone, even for chugga-chugga distortion. and in this respect, i really like what i hear from my MIJ Epiphone LP custom

i've got my RG for the brittle edgy distortion thingy

Ooo didnt see this thread before.

I'm using a craftsman LP. bought it becuase I had an obsession with James Hetfields LP.

Hopefully upgrading my pups to jacksons if my friend mails them to me.

MrE, if you like the classic tones, try out the Duncans vintage pickups, 59s Alnico II those kind, or teh Gibson Burstbuckers or classic 57s.

cool, will keep that in mind, Ciel

i thought Burstbuckers are not really vintage-voiced pickups? i will do more research... anyway, not looking for pickup upgrade for my LP anytime soon. 8)

either that, or u cna get vintage burny vh1 pickups.. totally nails the vintage tones.. i dont regret trading my evo and screamin demon for them..

Guys,
you want vintage vibes.

google for High Order Pickups.

Custom hand wound.

@

$60USD per pup.

Yeah. Just $60USD.

Highy raved vintage tones.

Well, the guy who winds High Order pups, he will reply to your emails asap. :)

I'm still sticking to my Viper though. Even when Bare Kunckles were mentioned, I didn't feel anything..

Pretty amazing if you guys have been keeping up with my gear exploits.

heh... i've emailed him. interested in the Maximus - medium output pickups that feel like high output ones, that's what one HC reviewer mentioned.

he doesnt even have names for his pickups actually, just that this one he calls the 'maximus' winding. for the rest, you have to tell him what range of output, what magnets, and what color you want.

tempting to get a pair, prob will try just one for starters... but of course will listen to some clips first :D
