High Gain Distortion Recommendation

leecs - I've already tried the Hardwire bro. It sounds sterile in my opinion.

Then no choice liao. Get this ba.

Seymour duncan twin tube mayhem?
amt fatal tube?
hardwire valve dist + hardwire tube od?
beta aivin hm200? personally own one =P. i'm rather easy to please. for the moment.

since you mentioned that the openhaus is rather pricey, perhaps you may let us a budget?

Lotsa time, we wanna find something else to make up for it and after going round spending money and time, still longing for the things we wanted originally.

This is truth.

I've spent so much - only to realise that I could have saved a ton of $ if I had just committed to getting certain pricey items.

Not all pricey items = HELL YEAH!!! but I think the Toneczar Openhaus is one of them that does a great job, and for me - it was the right tool for my wants.

If you want an idea of how the Openhaus is like - try a Barber Dirty Bomb. If you find the Dirty Bomb kind of pedal-ish sounding, or too saturated, or a little too plastic-y, then consider the Openhaus.

Okay. I must really give the dirty bomb a try due to the popular response.

Theunknown - Someone has recommended the AMT Fatal Tube to me before. Perhaps i'd look more into it! Thank you.

leecs - Thats too epic bro haha.

Oh yes regarding budget, i'm willing to spend quite abit because this high gain distortion will be used almost 90 percent of my playing time.

then go all out for the openhaus. Try it out in as many situations as possible to see if u like how it reacts to different amps. Def the best distortion pedal ever for me. I must admit that I am a converted skeptic.

im using a goosoniqueworx seventheaven. alone it already satisfy all my needs.. if more, i just run my bd2 modded or my rapture in front of it.

PatheinRaindropMoe - For home practice. The amp is the second part of my problem. I'm currently using a Peavey Envoy 110 and the clean channel is not to my liking. Thus i'm currently looking for an amp with a solid clean channel so that i can build my distortion upon that.

Have you found your amp of choice already then?

I don't play metal but this is my setup and to me it got enough gain for metal with a tone shaping tool which is extra useful..

Bad Monkey > Reezafratzitz > MXR-108

THOA - I have two in mind currently. A Fender Frontman 25R or a Vox Pathfinder 15R. More reccomendations please!

rackenstein - I'd look into those. Where can i find AMT pedals?

junkiemanxl - Yes i'm really considering the Metal End King. I'd have to go down to SV to test it soon.

shioks76 - Gibson Les Paul Classic, 500T & 496R and a Peavey Envoy 110. Looking to change my amp.

lifele555 - Thanks for the recommendation.

Whitestrat - Perhaps something a little more high gain?

I personally find better luck at stacking pedals over pedals and carving out the tone with an EQ pedal but that's just my personal preference, heh.

+1000

I prefer rolling this way as well. Much more flexibility than being stuck with a high gain pedal that does only high gain alone.

I play lotsa Metal and I say the Beta Aivin HM-200 does the job pretty well... All imho of course...

+1 to barber dirty bomb
I have that pedal and i have to say its very good for $160. Go order internationally, tymc always no stocks.

I would recommend the goosonique 7theaven as well like dearxarson. Definitely a pedal to check out and one pedal to play really loud with when it sounds its best. If u do try it in the future, perhaps ur first impression is that it does not have as much gain (compared to the openhaus) as u thought but this is a misconception cause goose meant it to be like that. Reason is versatility which u will notice after spending enough time with it (he designed the 7th to be stacked with anything u want with it), and once u play it loud as it shld be played like jamming studio kinda loud, u will understand the meaning of power!

Personally i use it as my main heavy dist pedal, and if more juice is required i will boost it with my barber direct drive, barber LTD silver, or keeley katana. These setup gives me a wide variety of high gain palette.
