hey shredcow i dun think i'll do another take this weekend, feeling uninspired n overly influenced by the original one which i did.(i listened to it quite a few times to see how to improve, but end up...) :?

mine wasnt entirely pentatonics, there were minor, blues notes every now and then.
Even so, i dont find pentatonics boring, i can listen to alot of pentatonics (i. e pearl jam ) without ever feeling bored, well thats just my personal preference.
Considering the number of people who shred neo classical, other modes, dont you think the plain ,stripped down pentatonics is kinda "out of the box".
I'm also quite surprise by the quality of the tone i got out of the cheap computer mic, and cheap amp.. well, i did some tweaking in audacity.

a 2nd take, cause i can't sleep.. so i tried to finish the whole track, and also try to keep to the same feel as my 1st attempt.. wheeee kinda got lost though..

hey i got some comments, im not a pro, so dun take it too hard ok? just saying some general things i felt when i listened.
BlackMoo: I thought your take was quite nice, tho it didnt really seem to have a climax or sth...so the song ran on and on till the end, but pretty nice sounding licks here and there..hehe..the distorted parts occasionally felt messy, but i dunno how to describe/pinpoint. Overall, pretty nice!
hifikiller: I agree that theres kind of too much minor pentatonics, maybe can try that dunno wat they call it, durian mode? or sth like that? n try blend major n minor together? actually im quite illeterate on that, dunno what they are called..hehe...but normally when i play i blend major n minor scales together, n a lot of "anyhow" pressing...as in i think a certain note should be able to fit in next, so i just press, but dunno wat scale its from..lol..pretty smooth overall, just kind of repetitious sounding due too too much minor pentatonicks. (not saying u must shred/fingertap to be good...i LOVE slash's playing...hehehe...)

The distorted parts do sound more lacklustre when done with your clean playing. I would say... You are less confident when with distortion. I don't really hear you digging in or striking hard to make a statement. You weren't using too much gain too, which is great! Less compression but your dynamics somehow doesn't stand out.
The mixing has to be more balanced. I hear some nice ideas like the divebomb and the pentatonic tapping section.
I guess the main thing is confidence. LIke what you were talking to me abt, that you were playing blindly. Can't tell if you were playing blind but can tell that you were not sure where to go.
