Guys,
I just sat down today with YET ANOTHER pup configuration! :) I know, I know... It was Breeds to X2N to Humbucker From Hell to Tonezones and now... its full circle... A breed neck in the bridge and my old HFH back! :twisted:

I'm done. I really am. Its time to stop the tone search because I GOT IT!!! And I want to just play. 8)

Here's a messy impromptu jam over a funk backing... I just went for it.. mistakes and all are there... it might be worth checking out for those who came to the last SOFT gathering because I'm using the old pentatonic scale... see how I try to spice it up lah... Enjoy!

Oh yah... the first part of the jam, ignore the boring, out of time, poser DJ harmonics I was dribbling over... heh.
 
Hmm...I personally think the sound of the guitar......

sounds a bit like a car's horn....it's like..honking sound....
but....maybe it's just the video...maybe not...
 
hahaha... man... what a way to describe it!

It could be due to the amount of mids I pumped in, giving that "awww" tone which I guess, sounds like honking. ;)

Its very prominent when on the out of phase tone...
 
Shred - you are my favourite Softie guitarist and musician (and there is plenty of hot competition). :D
 
Hahaha! Guys, i really like this tone. 8) I still think the TZ is great but it sounds too modern for me.

And besides... heh... I was on out of phase and coil tap for most of the first part of the song... how does the last minute or so sound? Thats when I changed back to series...

Oh and yeah... i had my tone pot rolled down halfway thru out the song... i forgot about it. :lol:
 
hmm..maybe it's just the sound quality of the video clip..try doin' it again with just the audio lah..maybe it'll sound better...or somethin'....
 
you're right bam! Heh.. i should stay away from doing these sweeps... really not my forte...

Hmm... i will be tweaking my EQ to accomondate the Breed neck/HFH combi... so maybe it will sound better? I dunno man, I'm hooked on this tone! ;)
 
Man.... Don't this leh... You know, that despite ppl saying tone is subjective to one's ears, one's opinion can still be easily swayed!

I hope i don't start GASing again... :lol:
 
speaking of pups.. i heard you're the man to go to for gear advice.. what do you think i should get for my bridge humbucker if i wanna get a really heavy tone for playing death metal? :?
 
just get GAS.

it's still good to explore the new pickups. i hope they come up with a new better improved tonezone. can you imagine or not, the tonezone is already so good, they come up with TONEZONE 2 or smth. whoa lao eh, confirm the tone will make my amp melt.
 
Ah... Well, I'm not THE man... I'm just a dimarzio fan... I've tried a lot of pups from Dimarzio so I guess I can help you out a bit.

You want a really heavy tone for Death Metal? Okay... you have to give me more info. What guitar are you using? Any bands/guitarists to reference their tones? Describe your tone in greater detail: bassy, chugging, crunchy?

Are you going to stick to Death Metal only? If yes, why don't you consider EMGs for uber heaviness, sans a natural tone.
