lol john dzite..just fyi, from what I see in the trains, particularly on weekends, its like more than 50% of the people on board are foreigners (china, indians, fillipinos, ang mohs...what have you). And yes, many of them love to chiong into the trains. I'm NOT saying that singaporeans are not guilty, I'm just sharing my observations that tho 1 in 4 ppl in singapore is a foreigner, more than 50% on trains are foreigners.

When in Rome, Do as the Romans do.

whenever i go to korea, sad to say la, but uh..half of me feels sad.
(half korean), cos everyone there pushes and shoves, best example is the aunties.

but if you dont push and shove, you get knocked down.
so have to la, it's all about survivability and adaptation.

Re Vicko's - when in Rome comment - true.

2 years back I was in Hong Kong Disneyland with my family - many of the locals were impatient ... Once, in a queue for an amusement ride, a rather loud mouth dude behind me and my family was like bunching up & talking to himself (while actually addressing the rest of us in the queue) " ah ..move faster, faster". After the 2nd time he did it, I turned around and asked in a cold sarcastic way "If you in a hurry, you can go before us".
The mofo DID ... what a freakin lesson for his family who was with him. Parents like that being arseholes and bad examples to the kids!

Hong Kong MRT is probably no diffirent than SG MRT esp durig peak hours. There were some jostling there and in the street and eventually I had to also resort to some well placed "glares" sometimes.

There was once I was on an MRT, standing up
You know how the train does sometimes jerk suddenly, so I lost my balance for a second.
I accidentally stepped on a man's foot who was sitting down and immediately apologized for it.
The man still stared at me and shouted "CAN YOU STAND PROPERLY OR NOT!"

Then I told him "Well there's no need to be so rude. I'm sorry. I lost my balance."

The man then said "You young people nowadays don't know how to behave yourselves, STAND PROPERLY!!!"

I then said "Well f*** you! I said I'm sorry and it was an accident"
It was then that he started talking big or something about 'teaching me a lesson'.

Then that I purposely called 999 in front of him, right in the middle of the train, and reported an 'obnoxious man on the train'. Of course, it was all meant to scare him off from his irritating behaviour.

After I hung up the phone, he stared angrily at me but remained completely quiet and avoided eye contact.

Then I told him just before he got off the train, "Don't start trouble you can't finish, pu$$y a$$ b|tch!"

THE END

It's a true story too

Yep I've seen similar cases in MRT - sometimes ending up in fistfites ..

whats UP WITH ALL THESE MOFOS? The idiot probably didnt wanna "lose face" and show that he's a BIG TIMER hence why he yayah even after U initially apologized.

Ive seen once before - a dude actually press the emergency button when he kena threatened.... the train driver & station master all came in "big time" like CID, ejected both pax from the train and brought up to station control. Of course the main perpetrator "big time act all the way".

When kena clowns like these on the MRT, no matter how cool we are we will tend to lose it...

Sad lah. Some people act like a big f**k or an a**hole because they can't control their ego and misguided pride. But it's more of insecurity than anything else.

regarding the handbrake thing right...
auto cars' handbrakes are not effective at all.
it'll still move smoothly but at a lesser speed.
and i think oddysey has a handbrake somewhere too.
first u engage P den handbrake up i think. or footbrake down. whichever haha

Well maybe mine is not in an MRT but there was once a lady bumped into me and I accidentally stepped on her foot. She gave me this look and gave a freaking loud OW! like it's my fault that she was the one who was looking forward when she walked against the flow of people like it's her right of way. Crazy. Some people just need a reality check. They think the world owes them something.

I donch know how to take the MRT! But I do recall that the dang doors freaked me out! I don't know how you people handle it - I'm like so used to knowing when a door is going to open or close.

BUUTTTTTTTTT, I may take the trains this Friday for the first time in like almost 20 years. They should have open carriages, without doors!

I'm glad I have never really met such irritating people in the MRTs or on the buses. The most I could think of was this bloody Nanhua boy who insulted my school uniform right in front of me in the MRT.

But that wasn't really rude inconsiderate behaviour, I guess...

I once got pushed by some old lady while trying to board the train...as in literally pushed with both her hands. I bumped into another lady and i got a scolding for that :S

this is why i prefer to stand in mrt.

no seat, no need to offer!

many in mrt pay for a ticket, but take two seats. Affluent societies have more BIG ass la!
