Multi-effects or Individual stompboxes?

Individual needs, I guess. Depends on our personal needs.

Thing about singles, you can get what you need and not have wasted stuff. I have a shitload of effects in my floorPOD but half of them are never used. I'd rather simplify things and just get what I need, and this time, stuff that take the tone from the guitar and directly modify it, not completely change it like digital stuff do. I save $$ also because I just need a few pedals and a simple adapter and daisy chain can do it. No need to save up a lot for a pedaltrain or whatever.

That said, even digital single pedals sound better than most multi-effects in my opinion. I liked my Uber metal, but decided to pass it on to Razrash since I got my HM-200 Heavy metal (which had a more appealing tone to me). Its all convenience la... depends on our personal needs. So for me, since my needs are simple, singles are more worth it.

Precisely. The amp plays a big part. Even a MFX sounds different when used with different amps, however subtle. I'm not going pedalboard now, I'm saving my money for a Marshall JCM800!:mrgreen::mrgreen:

u love death metal type sound, play through uber metal n heavy metal, yet u aiming for a jcm800? why?

as far as it can go, the jcm800 wont do death metal, not even with OD.

individual stompboxes for me.

i hav both mfx n stompboxes, but mfx only for recording. i would hav sold the mfx if im not planning to write more songs n recording.

btw, i hav only a simple pedalboard. :D enough for me.

But the thing is, don't expect amazing tone from MFX, because its digital. Some people prefer the digital tone though, I'm not one of them

The thing about digital tones is it's digital tones. There's no way you should compare them to analog tones because they are a world of difference.

The amazing tone is not true. Because we should look at it in the digital context. There are bound to be some good things here and there.

Come come pathein - lets talk delays. :D

Analog delay or Digital delay?

I like my Ibanez Echomachines leh... digital but just musical. Definitely not analog when a/b-ed but its some of the nicest digitals I've tried yet.

How abt chorus ah? I always find digital chorus to be... rather... eh... not nice lah.

Haha nope, my original intention was to follow sub's example. Get a JCM800 stack, and use the footswitch to switch channels. No effects at all. But now, I got my HM-200, so I'm no longer aiming for a JCM800. But I'll still get a Marshall or something like that because of its 'darker' sounding cleans. I play mostly heavy metal and gothic metal now, actually. Not so much into extreme metal anymore. After an overdrive joins my board, I'll be able to use the same rig for both rock and heavy metal. (Perhaps a chorus, too, sometime in the future.)

after spending years on trying to find the meaning of delay, i have come to the point of not needing one, i delay my own playing and repeat whatever iam playing naturally, mis-following whatever/whoever iam playing with(dynamics control and consistant playing, without using technology) Only problem is i can only delay my ownself down to around 500ms. Anything lower than that, my finger wont sound naturally and the delay tone in my finger cannot make it

chorus i prefer the more natural way as well, splitting my geetar signal into 8 amps and simultaneously having each amp in different direction, different eq setting etc. It doesnt get that watery or fake-ish chorus pedal sound, instead, it just sound huge and natural with sense of dimension in between.

it aint analog or digital anymore, but natural and organic sounding.
warmth and the other usual long list of words to describe tone doesnt exist anymore in the above case.

like what you said before, iam trying to go that way, tone is in my finger! Additional to that, iam trying to squeeze in modulation in da finger as well!

hahahahahaha.

Please dude, you gotta stop that "tone is in the fingers" jab hor... there are people who SERIOUSLY believe in it!!!! Wait you kena put on their signature hor~

I really don't think tone is in the fingers... I can use the same technique, and play through either a HM-200 Heavy Metal or a Boss MT-2 Metalzone and I'll still sound different... Different amps also = different tone!

errr...between shred and me, we are already way beyond that tone is in da finger state. We are just using it as sarcasm against the many many geetarers who really believe in that. Its such older than old argument that we decided to deal with it, with plenty of mockery and sarcasm...

I recorded with my floorPOD MFX, most people didn't like the tone.
