Multi-effects or Individual stompboxes?

stomp boxes >>> light and portable
MFXs >>> a bit heavy...
Oh you'd be surprised! Haha... One stomp box is light and portable. Six or more aren't that light and will most probably match or surpass the heaviest floor multi-effects units around!

Its all in the fingers, that I agree!

Sometimes its a matter of what they're being used for. When it comes to distortion (the hard stuff) I use only only Uber Metal since its all I need, and its distortion is way better than the floor Pod's.

However, for overdrive stuff where I'd use a lot of effects, the Floor Pod comes in handy.

Tada! Found good use for both of them!

i hate to have lots of pedals.waste money and the tone gets too compilcated.then it starts to sound wrong.even better if dont use pedals at all.pure amp distortion.

+1. I might use only the effects on my Floor Pod and stop using the amp modes when I get my Marshall. :p Amp distortion always reigns supreme.

its all about needs not wants in the real world of gigging... whatever makes the job done... haha... peace...:):):)

If just for practice and fun at home, Line 6 Spider 3 15watts amp is very good. Their amp modelling and effects are quite cool. The price will also not make a very big hole in your pocket. Around 200 dollars from Citymusic. If you want to have a slightly better amp with more power you can always go for 30, 75, 120, 150 W :D

Check this link out for demo.

Line 6 - Spider III Family

Download the manuals and check the possibilities of this amp from

Line 6 :: Support

Hope it helps.

Not always! Some lead players need more than one of each. Some actually like to stack an overdrive and a high-gain and whack.

as u said... some actually "LIKE" to.... but is it needed? ... maybe yes... maybe no... it depends on the application and the music... and "personal" preferences... and with proper EQ settings... u can get heard even w/o boosting volume levels... and without playing "whack"... haha... am i getting annoying in here... peace out brother...:-D:-D:-D

How about this for black metal:

Ibanez gsa60 hardtail > Line 6 Tonecore Uber Metal > Sound Drive SG-10

Only one pedal. Power! But I think this rig can also be used for pretty much any form of hard stuff.

i think... if ur just practicing... any amp would do... but... live... u have to have those 4x12s.. or at least a 2x12 combos to get that massive sound... recording wise... just plug in direct and run an amp simulator... =)
