Hey Whitestrat, whats your recording rig? I havent optimised my setup for a good tone yet.. Can get an above average tone tho..

Nice tone on the Journeying the Silk Road recording.. Still loading the rest

Exactly!

Have no desire for any built-in amp emulation cos I pretty much found the amp I like.

From what I can tell, it's like the ME-50: purely effects, unlike most other multis out there, which are basically either purely amp emulators or effects+amp chain emulators. I wanna see how it compares to the ME-50.

If good effect + good amp = good tone, then it's good enough. I hate overkills :D

True la, but if you get a pod x3 or something in its class, there's an option to turn on and off the amp sim. that's good if you want to to easy recordings, you can turn it on. If you want live performances, can turn it off! =) Not to mention, can use the 4-cable method also!!!

FOUR CABLE METHOD!!!

True also.

See budget also la.. lol.

Also, with so many things to play with.. i scared I forgot about the most important thing: actually making music :P

I mainly have 1 amp setting for the PODXTLive which I like: Mainly a Solo100 head with a Threadplate cab. Works very well for me. The mics are set to dynamic and as far away as possible.

I sort of believe that there's something lost when you remove the amp sim from the POD. It's like the unit was meant to be used with the amp sim, and I think the Stompmodeller is meant as a multiefx, and it's got something there that makes it sound different from the X3 or XTLive with the amp sim switched off.

Maybe it's a psychological thingie...

Btw, what's the 4 cable method?

4 Cable Method:

Guitar -> Multi Effects In
Multi Effects fx send -> Amp In
Amp fx send -> Multi Effects fx return
Multi Effects Out -> Amp fx return

This way, you can use the post/ pre effects on the multi effects, before/ after the pre-amp/ power-amp..

Wah! That's cool! I gotta try this! Maybe the PODXTLive would sound good in a studio then... Wait. This is with the Amp Sim off ya?
