Veneering Qualities
Blister-like structures formed under the bark of Bigleaf maple give quilted patterns in veneer produced from this species. The name, Quilted maple, is derived from these structures.

Quilted Maple gets its name from blister-like structures formed under the bark of the tree, giving quilted patterns in veneer produced from this species. The texture of the wood is fairly coarse. This wood is medium in weight and responds well to polishing, staining and, because of its high bond strength, it takes well to gluing.
