the Epi with the same headstock as the Gibson are the First few Japanese made Epiphones with Epi took over making guitars for gibson from orville.

After the switch to korea the headstock changed shape. The MIJ Epis are quite rare.

bro, i think the elitist model are still made in Japan.

i think they're all made in china now do correct me if i'm wrong though

no, i am being taught by someone else. I've seen his videos and heard his clips, i admit his good, but I've seen better, how well a person plays (especially improvisation) does show how well an the person teaches. A teacher really gotta know his shit in order to guide the student properly. If teacher teaches the student a wrong technique, student follows blindly, because after all, his the teacher..you get the idea.

btw Vaiyen, you his pet dog ah, i have been surfing this forum for quite awhile, I see you carrying his balls everywhere, not tired meh

sorry if Im too direct, peace ^_^

haha man, you say what you will.

I just cant stand for pple saying unsubstantiated comments abt my friends. I wouldnt think of that as a fault, actually.
your personal vendetta, grudge or what with shredcow, I dont know. There's a lot of jealousy and rivalry around, that much I know.

And the things you type reflect on your character, not mine.

this has nothing to do with singapore music improvement.

The scene been there since most people here even heard about music, let alone local music.

now and then have too much improvement over it, just that most that talk about improvement wasn's around back then to last till now...

sorry if i offend...

Keyword here is "unsubstantiated".
As a reasonable man of some learning, I would like everything said to pass the test of rationality and logic. In my perfect world, people would use their brains a lot more.
Ok perhaps I hold everyone to too high a standard.
I'll leave it at that :D

Do note, most of the videos were:
a) Done in the early morning
b) Done in a genre I do not play much
c) Very experimental

And I never use my videos to "advertise" for my teaching.

What clips did you listen to? If they are very bad, I'll take them out and replace them with something better. Not talking about preferences for styles here, just if the music is bad.

Also, I'm not a full time musician, though I wish I could be, so there's definately "better" out there, "better" being a subjective word. And I'd like to believe I approach things from a different view and not thread the same worn path in guitar playing.

I think you owe Vaiyen an apology. Not that he's asking for one or something, but that was downright rude and condesending.

+1

that was uncalled for, chickmagnet

err... i think we are kinda off topic here?

but whatever it is, i think it's not very nice to say negative stuff about people when these opinion are subjective - which is in this case.

cheers.

I disagree - how well you play doesn't translate to how well you teach. Getting concepts across to students and spotting mistakes is completely different from improvisation. How well you can actually cater for your student's needs is different from being a guitar guru, knowing lots of techniques and so on and so forth.

If you can prove that ShredCow's playing is flawed, by all means criticise. I hardly play like him but for me I still can't see how his playing is flawed.

By the way, this is a forum, and no one knows who you are. If you want to openly criticise, put your name and your photo down. Who knows if you're another guitar teacher instead and flaming another for your own agenda. This has happened before, not about guitar teachers but rather guitar techs.

be it opinion or preference - just recommend your choice instead - saying stuff that may indirectly 'throw sand into others ricebowl' is bad. what goes around, comes around.
