burstbuckers are in 2002/2003 (and later) models of LPs. not all models. those i know of that have them are the Standards, BFG, and all their LP historic reissues.

actually pickup tone is really a matter of taste. through these couple of years interacting with people and many of them having an A/B between a classic (496/500), standards with burstbuckers and standards with 490/498, they all have different conclusions and they spread about equally.

we all know there is no right or wrong. so the thing is to try it out yourself. :)

No change for me

Gibson Lespaul Classic Custom..

57 classic/ 57 classic plus.

Love the tone.. but these pickups arent really friendly with the metal genre though :)

gibson pickups are SOOO overpriced. it was way more expensive a year back or so if i'm not wrong.

i still keep my gibson pickups but they have been causing some headaches for quite sometime. i'll change them when my pocket allows.

Singapore got sell?

i've seen a few at blackwood before. but i'm talking abt prices listed on zzsounds or musicians friend. for that price i can get custom wound pickups from example, WCR or WB pickups.

have to agree on the 57 classic / classic plus
my Dot Re-issue Gibson ES-335 came equipped with those.
i dare say, they are have been useful with metal/heavy music for me. i use them for my hardcore band dear arson.
or maybe cos of my perception of metal/heavy music? maybe.
still waiting to try the vegas high roller w/burstbuckers for live setting though...

57 classic / 57 classic plus gets my vote!

i don't have a gibson of course but if i did have one, the pups would stay, especially for older models.

i love the epiphone pickups in my SG, so gibson should be better i guess.depends lor.

just checking out what you do to your Gibson pickups (LP/ SG/ etc...)...

Erm... My Gibson didn't come with Gibson pickups... How?

P.S. Anyone know where to buy 57 Classics in SG? Can't be bothered to order online... Too many incoming deliveries.

the only gibson i'll love to have are the vintage gibson PAF pickups from the 50s and the gibson t-top.

but those go for freaking bombs on ebay

Gibby stock nowadays loses consistancy...imo.

But but but... Original Gibson Seth Lover PAFs were never consistent to begin with mah... Assymetrical winds, no fixed value (based on how much winds he could squeeze into the bobbins) etc etc...

ha ..you got a point there but what i am looking is the final product.
How bout this ...my ex-LES Paul Studio Lite had a better voiced pup compared to similar at the same shop with serial numbers running close...c/with factory set up.
This guitar is currently owned by a great M'sian band...previous to that dearxarson rocked it for a bit.
If you love what you have on your stock,,,just rock it!...but if wanna take it futher ...do what is necessary. ;)

A factory looks at quantity/$ for raw materials , small time mom pop shop look at the best quality to achive specifics....both cost about similar.

If you are in the business you will understand .... i can't make you. :)

hey thanks goose for those links. more options for me to consider.

i've noticed that most websites do not offer the makes of the gibson t-top pickup. i think fralins made one before but not anymore. anyone makes them t-tops nowadays?

Point taken. More LUURVE to be found in boutique stuff, that's true. But I think, unless we can determine that these boutique pup makers use EXACTLY the same source for those old Gibson PAFs, we won't get that desired "Gibson" tone loved by many from the 50s pups. Then again, the new ones aren't the same either, so, I guess it's just how much corksniffing you want to do.
