some like compressed, some dont like, some want chicken pickin, some want chuggah chuggah. But whatever it is, avoid using a compressor for increasing sustain if just want sustain.

and i blame it on BOSS

k ar, serious oredi ar. i was planning on getting a skreddy mayo for more sustain when playing lead lines?

and also getting myself a barber tone press to even out the attack from my guitar.

sounds like a plan? heh

and when i increase that stupid sustain knob it becomes a noise pedal

DUDES!

hahaha... everyone has their moment of noob-ness. :P Its cool to talk abt such stuff!

I still have the CS-3, I read up a hell lot before getting 1 so I never used the sustain knob > 11 oclock unless its like.. uhm... funk,, and I got my CS-3 modded by Randolf asap... sounds very good now actually, but it not subtle enough...

Well, do note, if you goose it up with loads of gain, you get a lot of compression already and that should be enough to "even out the attack from your guitar".

thats when the gain pedals are on,

but say when im doing some funk lines with my wah, or im doing some clean lines, id be good to have a compressor "on" too, i guess, its a hypothetical thing for me now 8)

Yeah, for use with a wah to do that envelope filter thing, a comp is pretty much needed... alternatively, you can get the tonefactor analogue filter! I have it... neat for funky stuff.

Check with gsonique, for a neat optical compressor, pretty transparent (does fatten up a bit still) and you can't hear the squishing happen unless you wack really hard on the strings... pretty good! I ordered one.
