ok, cos i was thinking of getting an RC booster to put early in my chain, as an always on thing, and getting another of those inexpensive yet promising-looking clean boosts on tonefactor or pedalgeek..
Consider the Barge Concepts DB-2 for a clean clean boost. @ $99 USD WITH shipping, its a ridiculously good price, and its really 2 clean boosts.
For running the RC booster on all the time, you can consider stuff like the Catalina SCP, Zvex SHO or that thing i just got, Vintage Tone Project's KGB. Google for the website, the sound clips will give you an idea what it does...
imho only, dont come after my kar cherng  before boost, lets look at what amp we be using with. If not it will be a waste with all sort of boost but thru a practise amp or ss amp.
the rc booster, imho is useful with the eq control on it to dial as close to the original tone.
You are right PatheinRaindropMoe, if the dude were using the boosters to boost... but as it is, Jem007 wants to use it as more of an eq/exciter/liven-er to his tone, it will be always on. Would it matter as much whether it be tube amp or ss amp now?
Liven-er. Sheesh. Guitarists speak is truely confounding.
yup daniel you got that right..heard clips of KGB already..yeah the db-2 looks really cool, plus got fx loop , a real steal for 99 US..hows the two channels of boost like daniel?
hehe, pardon me i hope, weather now is making me like baked potato in my room
or perhaps can try using the bbe exciter to liven things up. Oh well, beauty of playing geetar is the mix and match trying of stuff, maybe its the next world domination tone!
Hey Jem007, its very flat, transparent kind of boosting. 27dB on each channels for a bone crushing 54dB of boost. I have it at my place, you can come by, its in Tampines. Also have the KGB.
Hey PatheinRaindropMoe, but i really would like to know if using those "exciters/liven-ers" will make more of a diff on a tube amp or ss amp. Whats your opinion?
depend on individual i guess. To put it on recording, sometime the lofiness or warmness can be muddy frequencies to some. Certain clarity might be useful.
Haha, seriously man, i really know nuts about those in depth. To me only got sound i like, sound i dont like. Guess cant really talk much bout it

i was ah, got this tube amp from HK with fancy design and technology at 125k usd, but i cant find the pic thou. I suck
hehe, actually why must emphasize on booteek? I think it cud be driving people away from it though. While i love effect pedal and wanted every one of it out there, i think there shud be more exposure of it in term of what and how each pedal can do cannot do, to enable the player to achieve their expression of self and music instead of the "bootekness" thou.
Just my thought. Dun poke me ok
