 Anybody interested in a SOFT online competition?

And I think I want to add this: the ethos of this competition is not just about competing and to emerge a winner. You'll not be able to add to your portfolio that your a winner of the 1st SOFT online competition - it probably won't mean anything.

But the whole point is to encourage creativity amongst musicians, have a chance to improve as we critique and get critiqued (now where did I hear that before....). For me, I'm really keen to see what each person comes up with from the same melody. Even if I don't compete (ie if my PC is still down...), the very fact that I can listen to different interpretations of the same melody is enough to get me interested in this competition, not to mention being played by different instruments as well.

Maybe it can also help SOFT increase the already very high hit rates.

Cheez, Well said.

So...
when we submit our song and then listen to other's submission,
we will..."Ah... Why I never think of that???"
It will really widen our way of thinking!!!

TONEPORT from city music....

[SOFT: bluepower, i edited away some parts of your post which is really not relevant in this thread. hope you understand. thanks]

Wow James - you certainly have great connections! I hope it will not be too difficult to keep up with the prizes in future competitions! I'm sure now we'll get more responses with this kind of incentive!

James, Just listened the melody line.
Hm... very suitable for POP song... for any style.
Who know one day it will become one of the hits on the chart.
So, competition start liao...

Hm...
wondering will softies happened to come out with similar arrangement?

Let's Enjoy the FUN!!!

soft: "2. Compose a song which include the given melody. It could be anywhere in the song as long as it is reconisable.". Hm... Understood.
soft: "Song should not be less than 2 mins or more than 3 mins". Hm... Will it be too tight? or "around 2~3 mins" sounds better?

Hi James, I noticed no key signatures. But I guess it doesn't matter since leaving it empty gives more room for interpretation. The rests are a bit tricky though...

Good start. Let the challenge begin!!!

I do hope we'll not come out with similiar arrangements. :)

I don't think so. James is tricky enough to come up with a B natural. May start off similar, but that B natural has much room for interpretations! Better not say anymore until everybody did theirs.

Anyway, too bad my PC is still under repair...

Hm...
Just finish come out some line to complete it...
but I have a stange thinking like our melody line will be very similar...
as i feel that what I thought will be what others' thought.
Maybe I lack of theory background, thus have such feeling...
Anyway, we just wait & see!!!
Sounds more Fun now!!!

not must be instrumental. can rap, chant, sing, scream or even speak in sexy sexy voice.

really, there's no boundary as far as musical style goes.
