 Anybody interested in a SOFT online competition?

oh yes i already got the chords progressions already!!juz add in a few riffs here and there and im done!!yay!!90 bpm is a nice speed to start off with :)

I got mine going at 286bpm with bone crushing guitars tuned to E. Just that its too short. All over in 1 min 2 secs. 8)

E as in low low e. :D

I looped it 3 times. Each time going up a key so the lay listener will think that its a whole song song! :D

but really... am wracking my brain for something...

Hehehe... yeah James.

Now you know how bands like nickleback get away with crafting songs with same chord progressions and structures!!! Just change the key. The audience is listening and non the wiser. 8)

haha..oh stuck im stuck with the riffs...die die die no inspiration to come up with riffs...im doin a slow slow one...slow riffs so hard to think of lor...

I was thinking of doing mine at 240bpm. Oh well, I think I'll change my tempo then! Anyway, just got back my PC today. Still got a lot of reinstalling to do. So cannot start.

Who's done one already? I sent mine. Don't have much time to properly record and edit so I threw together a hasty representation.

The rules are still a little iffy.
What if somebody plays the melody without the correct time signatures, is that ok?
What if somebody buries the melody in a million notes per second, we can't hear it, but he swears its in there.

Mainly, my question is, what if some of us feel that the rules were broken, but a person's song turns out to be the most popular. Since the judging is by voting, doesn't that mean that the rules are easily bent or broken? Or is there going to be a higher judge who will disqualify those who are deemed to have bent the rules too far?

Oh and, if voting is going to be done via a forum poll, what's to stop some people from making multiple accounts to vote for themselves? I've seen it happen before.

Not that I want to be picky but I believe rules for competitions should be made quite clear :p

theblueark, you mentioned you have no much time...
then why you send in so early?
the dateline is 6th March, which is another one week plus...

Hi.. I'm kinda new here.. Just wanted to know about composing the song.. must it be completed with bass and drums.. or can it just be an instumental lead guitar shred/solo with no backing bass and drums?
Thanks.

Because I don't want to spend too much time on this. There's a lot of other things that need my attention. The problem is not the dateline, is the amount of time I have available.

The song I submitted I'm fairly happy with. It captures my representation of the melody and I feel is of acceptable listening quality.

Hey blueark my friend why did u send a hasty recording I have not even started thinking of the song yet...hehe...you shoudl have taken your time...
The voting might be up to us but i think James will probably enforce the rules....I think the point of the melody is gone if its so fast that u cannot make out the melody...i guess speeding it up is no problem..and neither is phrasing..or changing key
