Who here don`t use effects at all?

I read sumwhere tat David Gilmour claims he doesnt have fast fingers on the guitar so he has to rely on effects, stompboxes for his sound. Hmmmmmmm.

What do you mean rely on effects? hmmmmmmm. Yes. he not a technical player like Gilbert, Vai, Malmsteen, etc. But his melody lines & solo phrases are better than most of them.

Hmmmm...........lets say i use a PodXT Live but use only 1 amp or stompbox model per patch. Is that considered simple? I hv ppl who say my patches sound like i use a heck lotta efx and i'm like huh? I dunno, i think crozzfire is right, less indeed is more.

I definately need a compressor (even on minimal settings) after my guitar signal. And then, my distortion... ...and another distortion... ...and an octave... and a reverb... and an echo... and then...

Haha j/k. but yeah you get my pt, I need pedals. I don't have a good amp that gives me every kinda sound i want.

effect is raw ingredient, playing guitar is like cooking, some choose to be vegetarian, some cant survive with meat and vegie but no fried stuff, just fish and white meat steamed, some can just eat grass everyday or cant survived without oily fried stuff

simple diet, healty and meaningful, if can tahan whole life, good.
combination of junk food and healthy food, colours to stomach, not healthy perhaps, but know when to exercise

both are choices where as a human being, can choose, nothing is too wrong or right, as long as we choose.

in the end, you'll still get a full rig for yourself, bedroom or otherwise.
in the bedroom: i get sick of my amp and guitar, i need some fun.
in your gig/ church/ jamming studio: i wanna cover this song, i wanna add spice.

tonewise, investing in drives are a must for me, but modulations.. well. equally a must, LOL. but i really would like to just play my guitar sometimes...

I don't like pedals. Had a couple before but sold them...my Cube 30X does what I want. Though I don't use its effects, lol.

imo....a good amp with good dist....then there isnt a need for efx ?? but maybe need delay or some other sort of efx for jamming la.

usually the choice of using much or straight to amp playing is limited to what we listen and play plus some part of personal preference, according to individual. What does it for Alpha, doesnt cut it for bravo and vice versa

this is just my opinion, hardcore fx ppl with pedaltrain pros that make your guitar sound a lazer gun and aeroplane with a cat dying in the background please dont be offended :)

You must be very entertaining to watch ... doin all that just with your wah and volume and tone knob...

Actually I prefer to rely on a good amplifier (like that Marshall which has delay and other effects), but since my current amplifier's rather limited, what to do but use effects pedals...

When I get my Marshall 30-watt I'll probably sell away all the pedals I've accumulated :D But its gonna be a long time.

haha im not sure i get you there. I certainly cant use fx to do that, im just over-exaggerating the extent at which some people use fx :)

nothing against fx, in fact if you can use fx great, like the edge, you certainly have my respect.

but sometimes less is indeed more.

gah whatever, enough talk on forums when this time should be spent practicing :)

I only have a build-in distortion in my guitar. So, it's kind of handy in a way. Hey, don't ask me how to do it. It was done by my nephew whose an electronic freak. Good thing he dismantle my boss distortion and took the internal parts and fix it to my guitar.

Ankh

Whoa, he must be a genius to know how to do that...

hey Juppz ... I recommend a 'harmless' delay effect ....give it a try just one time ;)

yeah man i've been thinking about incorporating a digital delay into my setup to get those really cool rhythmic delays, but every time i read about time signatures, dotted eights and triplets, and having the repeats decay in-between notes, i just get confused :(

wonder where people learn how to use digital delay as it doesn't seem very easy to use at all :(
