What happen to the Winners of School of Rock?

Hmmm alot of anger and frustration i feel in this thread.... Juz a suggestion, enough talk and start doing something... If u guys feel that the local gig scene in singapore needs to bring up its metal scene... Set up a huge event, maybe a competition or somthing... but not at substation somewhere along orchardroad then make it like a huge annual thing....

Its abit goin too far isnt it, to goin to the subject of singaporean chinese and stuff... I'm no chinese but hey, u guys want a huge metal scene in singapore lets see it and i promise i'll be there front stage... Its juz not nice to do it like this..... be professional musicianz man....

Like i said, it has nothing to do with race or religion or whatevr shit, its singapore as a whole, as a music industry, n how the people's mindsets work. I jus stated the newsppr survey as source. So dont get it wrong n lead it to the wrong way n make me look like the bad guy. Infer, pls. For those who want metal to b known, fuckcare. Just join any competitions u see along the way. Tht way, u'll get recognised no doubt abt tht. Bt honestly, theres no use. The fact is, the fact is right infront of ur face. I'll stop here. U dont wanna b spoonfed. Experience life urself.

heavy metal band comp

that would be fun to watch as well.

they might give a category for Best Mosh Pit or Best Black Tshirt to the audience.

Howabt Best Head Banger? When they come on stage to collect their prize, you'll see their heads are under their arms.... haha....

I think this would be a really cool event.... No "oh baby oh baby..." juz plain old hair spinnin head bangin with one hell of a mosh pit! \m/ Oh Yeah!!!!

the metal scene has way more talent than you can even think of.

and 1 more thing about competitions that disallow death metal.
a quote from a friend of mine, "F*** ANY STUPID COMPETITION THAT DOESNT ALLOW DEATH METAL!"

pls ppl, be open. death metal is more than having throats kind of vocals and heavy riffing.

Tellme how many bands know that, Why do they always need to play so loud? And when they scream into the mike, they dont pull back and cause the mixer board to crack into the reds all the time?

Show me a metal band that knows how to play metal softly, thats when u get it technically tight and dont rely on volume to just feel it.

And any band that wins a competition will have some ego, its just how they are gonna take it when its crushed.

That's what most metal is all about (well, with the exception of power metal). You kill that, and you're missing the whole point.

Play metal softly? Just cause they crank the volume, it doesn't mean they RELY on it dear bro.

You're gonna tell me you can be more technical than Dimebag? That you can play faster than Michael Angelo? That you can come up with more creative riffs than Buckethead?

Metal players have a different set of skills altogether. So you can't say that they don't have it "technically tight" just cuz they play fast and loud.

shows the sound man nvr sound check probably. being louder doesn't make the mixer clip, being on higher gain does. so the sound man must make sure they dnt have so much gain lor

on a personal view, its true metal & heavy stuff is best heard when the volume is high, gives u the punch but as musicians, we must know wat is being too loud in order to compromise each other, some of the bands i c jus have everyone doing their loudest as if they wanna out do each other, without caring whether they r overshadowing their band mates

you wanna compare me to dimebag? whatever lah.....

Im not comparing anyone. My point is one man's meat is another man's poison. If metal poisons you, guess what? Others here happen to LIKE it, so make like a dead man and keep it quiet. 8)

EDIT: Yes, I'm NOT comparing you to anyone, merely pointing out a few people who exhibit the level of skill required to play your definition of "not technically tight" music. Also, the pm function exists for a reason...

Let's get this back on topic please. Before we propogate another DeathCubeK prodigy.

hmm...hi there Mobius, i'm here to share what the band is going through, has gone through and plan to go through..haha...im not too sure bout the 2nd and 3rd band though...

after winning the comp, there was a moment where we got a lot of attention, like interviews and photoshoots...it was so so cool!! then we signed on to Music&Movement, under their artiste management section...i know many people now have a thinking that the management is controlling us tightly...it is kinda true..BUT!! i think it's what they do...and i kinda enjoy their company...their very friendly people...especially Jennifer...they have their reasons for not allowing us to play at certain events...and thus...we cant play at certain events like Tapestry and the Eurasian Gig(not sure of the actual gig name..) as much as we'd love to...

the management also help us get shows...but sadly it's not those normal shows that we used to do and loved so much...the management gets us shows as a guest band kind of thing...usually we play like 2-3 songs...4 at most...then leave...and...err..i think you havent heard from us cos the event arent really put on music forums like this...they wont like say "3dash1 will be performing at That Event" ...cos the band isnt the highlight...for example we played at Miss Seventeen Contest...so the hot teen chicks are the highlight..and the people who came, came for the hot chicks...

currently, we are like other bands...going to our routine jamming sessions, writing songs...we also have upcoming shows and events...but most of them are like guest band kind...only 1 is the full set of 45 minutes! so come for that one k! at the esplanade 15th oct 730pm onwards! haha Promo x 2300... :p

so far it's been fun...but there are moments where you get dissed and such...like people saying you're egoistic and you put on a smug face and such...i dont know lah...sometimes even when you try your best to put a smile on everyone's face...it just isnt possible to please everyone...that kinda sux...but overall it's been really amazing...this kinda things doesnt happen everyday...and i'm thankful for everything...

haha sorry for the long post...!! i hope the info's enough...
