my point of view, singaporeans are too filled with chinese pop music like energy and f4, by the television and competitions. everyone thinks rock is just nothing but noise. even if they listen to rock, they're just referring to punkrock. if we introduce them any metal or hardrock songs, their reply is 'wtf is the vocals trying to mean or sing?' or 'too noisy man i don catch it !' and to fill the request of singaporeans or maybe the judges themselves, competitions are choosing more pop-based bands.

I always believe that on stage, u can be crazy as hell coz tts for entertainment value...but offstage, the attitude and rampaging should never be carried on...

for your info, who says DEATH METAL gets rejected in band competitions.
No Divider is a death metal growling band that WON the Battle of the Bands this year.
This is a simple conclusion to those metal bands who got "rejected" in other band competitions, maybe the playing and the music just wasn't good enough. :roll:

And why would Power98 or Perfect10 98.7 play Slayer and risk losing 90% of its listening audience??

Metal music is testosterone filled music, therfore u usually isolate out most of the female audience, secondly due to its technicallity and complex song structures, usually only musicians can appreciate them, so taking into account the above 2 factors, u already removed most of the general public out of the picture. And that is why it is difficult for metal music to be mainstream.
Metal has always been about rebellion, being different and wearing that difference with pride. And if metal music does become mainstream, I am sure people will complain that metal sold out and is not cool anymore.
