The chassis says "GA-5" so according to the internet, its supposed to be a Gibson Skylark from the old kalamazoo factory.. made between 1965 and 1967.. haha should still be younger than your dad lah..

I always wondered if ES-335 style guitars look better with the pickguard taken off or just left intact on the guitar..hehe..I took off the pickguard off my Dot just now and while it looks good for a little while, I may somehow put the pickguard back on..have that feeling hehe..

The last batch from Korea to reach our shores. Plays pretty well except for some string tension.. hopefully it can be rectified..

Hey guys! Sorry for hijacking! But recently I've been interested in gettin my next electric. And well I was deciding between and LP copy or a Strat copy, but I can't decide cause right now I mostly play my electric clean without effects. Just some acoustic covers and stuff. Then i stumbled upon the semi-hollows. They look drop dead gorgeous. A little too large I would say but still gorgeous. And I also heard they were good for acoustic songs? So... Are they actually? For playing clean to have that 'acoustic sound'?
And if so... Which models should I get! I'm still much of a beginner.. Looking for something below S$400. But won't be looking to get it now cause I'd probably wanna wait till my skills improve to justify a second guitar.
PS: Please don't tell me to get an acoustic guitar since I play mostly acoustic songs! I want an electric!

EMGs on a hollow body?!?! Hmmm.... Not sure but how does that work?
I have read some shitty reviews on the stock pups at harmony central.
But surprisingly, I find that they are pretty good. Not sure why reviewers were complaining about the pups. But of cos if one compares these with the TV jones it's a whole different story. You get what you pay for.
I love the pups. Would not change them unless it's a set of TV jones.
But if i wanted a set of TV jones, I might as well get a 6120.
Besides, the stock Gretsch Buckers look & sound great.
No reason to swap them out

You can try an Epiphone dot. I remember seeing some of the softies letting theirs go at $400-$500.
If you want to get acoustic sounds with it would be rather difficult unless you want piezo's on the bridge. I'm not too sure if it's do-able but it would cost quite greatly.

I used to wnt a dot but, like fter testing a showroom piece i was left with nothing but disgust. ._. now looking at a hamer echotone or rally neosound or if the gods smile on me and give me some cash, a casino. now my question is, is my experience with the dot a really bad but once in a lifetime kind of thing? or are dots of such low quality? =/

Some of you may notice that I've put this guitar up for sale, but well, as long as no one's bought it, it's still mine, and I think it deserves to be shared with all the semi-hollow lovers on this thread...

they are not that bad.
But i don't really like the dots that are made nowadays.
I just cant connect with it. It just feels weird and the worksmanship is not too flattering as well. Especially in the neck department.
No offense to dot users.
I would recommend taking a look at the lower end MIC tokai dot's that is around the same price range.
much better make compared to MIC epiphones.

tried the tokai before and it sounded really great for its price. But the hums dont take overdrive/distortion too well, so you might want to consider a swap. I have a casino up for sale! its korean made btw!
