Vox V847 Wah Mods

Yup! :D Gonna try it unless someone here tried it and it doesn't make any difference! Or worst, the wah doesn't work anymore!

Ok after surfing around for more info, I have found this site having a mod of 6 sweep selection.

I'm really a newbie in this kind of stuff but simple soldering I'm still capable of.

If I can find a 6 way rotary switch, do i get capacitors around the range 0.01uF, just with a little variation in capacitance in the other 5? Also is it just a simple case of joining the rotary switch to the original capacitance connector and work from there?

Trust me ..you will not use all six positions....pick two ...use DPDT ...Sim Lim can find.

dpdt.l.jpg

@ = poles of the dpdt

0.01
B @ @A

from pcb D @ @C back to pcb (where the stock cap was- removed)

F @ @E

0.015

Bigger value caps = lower frequency range

Suggested values; 5n6(0.0056), 8n2(0.0082), 10n (original), 15n, 22n and 33n. Try and see what you like.

Hi Angry,

Do you have a wiring diagram of how to add a power jack to a vox 847(ie which wire to solder where and all)? I uderstand you need to add a cap somewhere to the power jack also.

I can solder but cant read a schematic.

Thanks.

The Vox 847 sounds pretty good on its own... modded to True Bypass and with a better pot, like that fulltone pot, it sounds good-er!

I still have some black label propots in stock.

Its been a while since I messed with wah pedals already. Think I have a red and yellow Dunlop Fasel as well.

One of these days...

Project: Rebuild that damn wah to play 70's porn music!

Haha.
Red/Yellow fasel? Make it switchable?
Can you do a 3 way voicing selector?
Make the wah true bypass?
Mod/Change the basic circuitry with better quality components?

You could sell modded Crybabys @ 299USD.

The NOS red and yellow fasel are incosistant in value.= so its difficult to get the right mojo...Yes they are sweet but does alot of vomit ..i wish Teese will sell his inductors again....its the best consistant rollies.

There's a shop that would retrofit Teese's Halo inductors into Teese wahs. So you can get an RMC 1, 2 or Wizard, with a Halo Inductor. Can't remember the name, but that shop is the only one authrised by Teese to do so... or something.

Hello, gsonique has posted a diagram on it :D
Try to get the smaller of the dc jack, I got the bigger one and it is still sitting at home cos I don't have such a big drill bit

and more... I must add in the disco led... wait... i'll have running lights around the base!

like this only disco! Then i'll sell it to Bootsy Collins for $6969

Trick time...no big drill??? ...drill with the biggest you have ...then use a round file(know as rat tail file) to size...
