But Bigsby on SG solid lah.. Looks damn sexy..

Got a question for all u SG supporters.... Any suggestions on what pickups for an SG to tone down the overly bright sound of the default classic 57' humbuckers?

I bought a pair of MightyMite Vintage Buckers.. Massive low end on that beast!
However, mine is the vintage MIA piece (hand-made).. Now they sound different (factory-made in MIC)..
Well, I don't find the 57's to be bright.. The SG is naturally a darker sounding guitar as compare to Strats and Teles, so planting in bassy pickups may cause it to be overly bassy..

Any other options? Any P-90's for recommendation?

Godspeed : If you compare an SG on 57' humbuckers to a Les Paul or PRS Custom with default pups, it's definitely bright... Good for old school stuff but definitely too bright for modern rock...

seriously, just turn down the tone knob.

its better to have more treble than more bass.
cos its always easier to cut than to add more treble.

if u want ur '57 classics to be less bright, try changing the pots to 300k.
that is what gibson originally used in the 50s-70s...not sure of the 80s tho...but current ones are 500k.

Hopefully incoming.

i guess they're bolt-on.
but p-90's overrule everything :P

u know my SG classic.
well, i hate large pickguard SGs.
i also dont really like the 50s style necks that are on them.
but the P-90s overruled everything, thats why i somehow have one :P
