seventheaven

Oh.. I never knew.. Well the one I bought was, after all going for a price similar to the current ones.. So I figured why the hell not lol..

Anyone tried a Sahasrara and Punchtone into a Seventheaven? Haha.. Local pedals mania!

Goose has a vintage SD1 as well as a modded one if i recall correctly...both sounded really great into the 7th, if i recall...you should definitely treat that combination as a contender!

The Zenkudo? It's very nice, but not like it's completely amazing or the bees' knees or whatever...it's not gonna change the world. I bought it on a whim because i thought the 3 different voicings would give it a bit more variation than the Jetter Red I was using in that same capacity.

Actually the Zenkudo's good for recording that way as the subtle differences can actually be quite noticeable when recording.

Both pedals are relatively low gain in nature...no big surprises there. I think either pedal would work fine in a live setting, but then again I'd be just as happy with modded TS9 as a gain booster (although I think the TS9 would have a more prominent midrange than the JSR/Zenkudo).

theres some interesting pages/pics in the zendoku fella site siah.

heh, so cute

wonder what those words mean for them. It doesnt really have definite meaning in mandarin, smoke, increment, luck/prosperity

Totally a case of show me the money. Overpriced, for sure. But ah well, it's purchased, it sounds good for me and i'll live with it - my curiosity has been appeased, and I get stuck with a $400 bill for that. Yeowch!!

I gotta say though I do love that mother of pearl! And the packaging is so typically Japanese...it comes in a nice little bag in a cute little lunchbox too, plus it's always nice to have a personalised sticker at the base of the pedal with the serial number and my name on it!

PatheinRaindropMoe brobro, the last character is not "福" as in luck, it's "幅" as in like a measure word for textile or picture, like "一幅画". But dunno wad the meaning haha, smoke increasing?

for my board with the 7th, I found a Keeley TS9DX stacked into the 7th to work really well.

I'm running a ts9dx to goose the 7th too....modded by Goose himself of course.

Ah...so you have a zenkudo. Its been pretty raved about and a subject of controversy at TGP.

wow i dig the zenkudo's enclosure finishing! power.. especially the abalone.. so Chinese New Year :D and i noted another thing on their site.. "weiting list" omg...

haha yeah.....for that price the finishing better be good aye?

anyways i tried the mod Shredcow mentioned for the 7th , couldnt get used to the reduced low end thump of the mod, so had Goose mod it back to stock today..... cos stock sounds best to my ears. The "solid" low end is one of the unique defining characteristics of the pedal imo, and thats what makes the 7th stand out from other high gain pedals.

I guess we all have our preferences aye.

Yeah, we do.

Interesting you mentioned this because remember when we bumped into Edo83?

I think Edo & I approach the live stage slightly different - we prefer a less bass approach when in the band.

So that probably accounts for why I prefer the 7th that way.

But its all cool - especially as the context is clear since then we're able to understand where one is coming from better.

It also depends on the other gears in the chain and how they are set.

For live, I turn down the amp's bass to 11 o'clock and increase the treble to 1 o'clock. And my guitars easily cut through the mix - ie. a deluxe Telecaster that is very bright sounding when the no load tone control is open full. Sometimes, it's a little too bright and I need to roll back the the guitar tone knob by a quarter turn.

With my setup and settings, I am happy with the Seventheaven as it is.

joshuak, what amp are you using?

And do you use any delays after the 7th? Any difference in the main tone of the 7th when the delay is engaged? (i.e. from true bypass to switched on)

Usually it's a Laney VC30-112. Sometimes a Fender Pro Junior. Once in blue moon, a Gries 5.

My delay pedal is Boss DD-20. I often use lots of delay. Yup, there is addition to the flavour when the delay is engaged. But the core sound of the Seventheaven is still there.

Yeah, we do.

Yeah i remember man....its all cool i guess. On stock my band actually complained that my sound was too full. My vox was like saying "you know your sound will really suit the whole context if you'r the only guitarist" cos we have 2 guitarists in my band and we play chugga kinda stuff. I thought the 7th's bass may come off as a little too loose for my band's kinda sound but it actually handled it pretty nicely - when the drums kicked in you could still hear it over and clear. Something which most of the op-amp pedals and amp simulators like the gt-2 failed to do and got lost in the mix.

On stock, i actually had to turn the bass down to 8 when using it for jamming. And it depends on character of the amp i run into. After the mod the 7th just lost that low end thump which i liked - i had to turn the knob up to 3 and i still felt something was missing for the red channel, especially when you hear the difference between the low end on the green channel (since that's unaffected). Had Goose mod it back to stock.
