seventheaven

After the mod the 7th just lost that low end thump which i liked - i had to turn the knob up to 3 and i still felt something was missing for the red channel, especially when you hear the difference between the low end on the green channel (since that's unaffected).

now that you mentioned it - you're right.

I think I posted before about the low end thump after the mod and I wasn't clear about it. Damn the ambiguity Daniel!

You summed it up right - the low end thump is still there after the bass cut mod, but its not exactly the same and one has to crank the low end to get there.

Its actually pretty cool to hear how the 7th changed your perspective and how its not just a perspective due to uh... words or a talk... but its the sound that really matters in the end. That's the right away about it all.

And of course, its all about MOJO too. Don't ferget that.

Haha yeah of course la....its not about hype man, if i cant get the pedal to sound good whether its at home or with my band....you'd see me selling it off at the guitar buy/sell section. I'm a practical musician. Its also limiting for me as a student since most of my gear is bought from working part-time jobs and during my 6 month internship stint...which i was paid peanuts and still wanted to buy gear..... So i'd better make a right decision. Can't afford to keep buying and selling pedals as much as I'd like to. I'm also not the sort to leave pedals lying around in my bedroom....its either on my board or off it goes on sale. The 7th has allowed me to downsize my board to just 3 pedals for my dirt needs (7th, tubescreamer and fuzz) and it's an amazing all-rounder for what it does.

MOJO? holy cow whats that! sorry me no understand please enlighten me:(

Seventheaven used live

decided to let you fellas hear a vid of the Seventheaven used live.... featuring Nailhood. A great senior and mentor whom i very much respect from my school's jamming CCA. His band Slingshot covered GNR's Sweet Child O' Mine in this vid. They played this during Helloween Night in a church dressed up as KISS. I was there rocking out with the crowd haha.

Seventheaven is on all the time, dynamics from "cleans" to dirt were controlled solely by the guitar's volume knob if i recall correctly from what he told me. Amp used is a Roland Jazz 160. He is also the only guitarist in his band. Enjoy.

Ok Advanced Journalism class is killing me already..... :(

Haha Goose you joker la! The canine is one bad ass dog....hoho

Yeah Melvyn, hope you dint mind i posted that.....first "official" vid of a seventheaven used in an actual gig, with such a kickass song to boot. How about a seventheaven for bass now that you've mentioned it? :D

Yes that would be sweet, haha. No I don't mind you posting the vid la. And just to clarify to others, we don't wear make up at every gig. Only that particular one haha. Soon our effects boards will have more and more goose pedals. I'm patiently waiting for the citrus and the boosty. After that I can sell away my RC booster. Might join u guys on tues but Kev says it's not confirmed yet..

i got the 7th from bluepowder.. he had to sell it due to some issues, so i thought just to take the plunge since i had moolah from a previous sale and... it was there!

for a mere 15 minutes, i plugged it into my valbee (stock cheena tubes) and ibanez SA, and at all knobs at 12 oclock, it didnt sound that good to my ears (a lil too trebly) but with lotsa tweaking, i was able to dial in my tones..
absolutely love the green channel on med/high gain, it gave me the kind of marshall crunch and saturation i loved. many people dun see this as a metal pedal, but the gain sounded raw and powerful enough for me. and i was playing at low volumes still, mind you it was 10pm.

At my horrible rig and settings, all i noted was that chords i played sounded distinctively different from single notes. the notes sounded a bit too thin perhaps, but the chords sounded full and rich. why is this so? (im not looking at the red channel yet) maybe i havent found a way to unscoop the mids. okay, musttt playyy moreeee.

its super quiet. and clarity was superb even at very high gain settings.

nonetheless, i know this counts for nothing since i've not cranked it up and played with it long enough at gig levels yet.. shall update again with prolonged usage.

btw goose.. i think you is nice guy. like really. bluepowder was full of praise at your service, kudos to you for making such great stuff! shall meet you soon as the tubes in my bee are kinda old and may be losing its sting. totally feel like im on 8th heaven now!!!

The 7th isn't a smooth, fat sounding thing for one. You can't really get Santana tones out of it. The 7th is also dependant on your guitar... heavily dependant. If you got a thin sounding guitar or pickups, it will show.

Also, playing at louder volumes will give the 7th a better sound.

Anyway, to boost the mids... don't turn up the mids knob. It doesn't control the amount of mids. (Heh, I know, I know...) Use your ears. You have to turn down the treble and then you'll notice the mids come up. And the mids knob controls the frequencies you want the mids to be focused upon - higher = lower mids.

So if you put treble at 9 oclock, mids at 9 o'clock, character switch to presence mode - you got a fatter tone.

Let your settings and turn the mids up... you'll notice it starts shifting from upper mids to lower mids... when you hit 2 o'clock, switch character to feedback mode - enjoy the chug.

Of course, treble/feedback/presence to taste.
