I propose Apot lotus Squire tele, a commendable effort for tech challenge category.

Dear Softies,


I am doing this rework for someone very special in my life...I wanted this guitar to age together with my soon to be BB girl....delivering in May.

After a month of frantic rework, painting and polishing, I would like to introduce my humble repaint of a Squire California Tele.

I got my inspiration from a wall painting.





It consists of oil painting with a tinge of traditional chinese painting style and
so I copied the concept and explore further.
Copying the texture of canvas, oil and watercolor with a final coat of clear lacquer....


So here it is..."Lotus" Telecaster.....

faekildare, I stripped the original paint till the sealant which is damn difficult to strip. So i sanded it all the way down to bare wood (which I find very similar to Jelutong because of the familiar smell I used to sniff in technical school).



Then I painted on the bare wood to create a "Canvas " effect.



This was the initial painting...which my wife and friend find it a little too bold..
So I sanded it all off once again...



Anyway, this was how the original Squire looked like...

this month entries were all very good, but in terms of effort required in terms of refinishing,time,cosmetics-wise..
mero winning entry was good too but it was more of a assembled-proj..so i will have to give it to apot red...

Thanks all, the goodest news is that the owner has come to claim it. My BB daughter was born on Friday... After 48 hrs of heart wrenching labour.... Nevertheless, I believe all is a winner. We shall possess the skills to beautify and make better guitars...

Hi Everyone... i guess I must have missed the celebrations. Been away on fieldwork so hardly had time on the internet or the phone.

Anyway, Congrats to Mero for taking the corwn for April and Apot-Red for attaining the special mention for technical challange and the technical challenge of fatherhood for the special mention arrival of your baby.

Apot-Red, as mentioned earlier, the piece of MM hot rails pickup is now yours. Do PM me your address and I'll post it to you. I would like to personally hand it to you but my schedule is tight till 3rd July.
