Yo Fgl, previously you told me it wouldnt be wise to route a Floyd cavity on a guitar which does not have it factory made. Whats the reason behind ah. You said smth along the lines of tuning pains? Anyone else feel free to enlighten the noob. Kthxbye.

basically your modder has to get everything right, the alighment, the actual routing etc etc ... even if off by a few mm - chalat .... not many ppl I know here in SG can do a really 100% great job in retro routing an FR ... so best to buy a ready made FR axe ...

well i hope it's not to late to enter mine here...

it's a '79 strat i received from my uncle.

was pretty unused for 20years and electronics were crying for help...

i managed to salvage the stuck knobs with a switch cleaning spray but the 5-way was beyond hope..

so i replaced it with the best i can find (from fender, of course)

them i srewed everything back, took out a old toothbrush, lemon oil, brasso and finishing compound and spent a good 3hours worth of elbow grease to make this beauty shine as it should.

thanks. he didnt have the time to take care of it, plus he doesnt have an amp. he gave it to me as we only live a couple blocks from each other and he can play it any time he wants to.

but that aside, one of the pots might need replacing after all. keeps refusing to turn...

Try lots of WD40 to get the thing moving, then lots of contact cleaner to make sure the contacts are free from debris. You might also want to open the pot as well to check the insides.

Btw have you come across any stereo instrument cable around?
Not sure if can really call it vintage, its different from gibby bell heads
Maybe change to pearl heads? also earlier lucy mop on headstock look less blink right?

Bridge = Gotoh Tremolo vibrato
Pickups = Dimarzio Evolution, Dimarzio SH-1, Dimarzio Evolution (b)
Neck = Korean Wizard II (Sand down to more of a flatter D shape with oil finish)
Tuners = Gotoh tunning pegs.
Installed a push pull pot at the tone for more sound variety.
