Can go and try the vintage 16 at ranking too while you're on an amp hunt. Sweet tube tones. I would have gotten it but it's not loud enough for outdoor gigging without monitors.

to ShredCow & the rest who are after a good tube combo, another recommendation:

Peavey Ultra 112

the Ultra series are discontinued, it was the reference model for the development of the current Triple XXX series.

Hi subversion,

Are there any cabinets you would recommend? May be getting one soon.

TIA :)

* Preferably 1x12, just for home & small gig usage.

no 1X12 @ BB showroom.

if you are interested, i recently tried a Crate 1X12 over @ Davis- above average, thanks to the default Celestion.

have you tried it? if you like what you hear, by all means go ahead. however, the CUBE15's drive isn't as pleasing as the CUBE30's.

Hi subversion,

Thanks for your prompt reply... I've tested the amp and found that it was ok... But any recomendations for a small practise amp? I've already got another amp @ home but found it too loud to my baby niece's and neighbours' liking...

loudness isn't about size. Fender's Bullet amp will out-volume a 30W Marshall any time...

i have different considerations when choosing an amp, namely, it has to deliver my kinda tone. if volume get's in the way, i'll find means to address this problem- power brake/ headphones maybe. i'm not sure if you are in a position to adopt my philosophies but hey, we each have our peculiar concerns.

in that case my friend, if you just need an amp that'll fulfill your practice needs primarily, you wouldn't be a lesser person by owning the Micro CUBE...

of course- i've tried it before...

it will run on 6XAA batteries also. it's not a fantastic amp in terms of performace but it's more than sufficient for practice.
