Live 'n' Loaded - Episode 3 - 10 Feb 8.30pm!

(shakes head and sighs)some people never learn

It's quite interesting actually. Reminds me of people who were complaining in 1977 that the punk bands (like the Damned, Sex Pistols, The Clash etc) could not play like Deep Purple or Led Zep... :)

It's the same divide I guess in our local scene between "pub" and "indie" bands - the former being the bands who can play note-perfect versions of the latest top 40 and the latter being the ones who write and play their own original music

To each his own... why can't we just y'know get along

;-)

perhaps so, but I just find it very uncouth when someone rants and insults everyone blatantly online. Fine, perhaps he prefers pub bands compared to indie, but still there was no neccesity to insult half the music scene, then turn around and say he's sorry, and after that pretend like he's some innocent party.

please, you may not like them, but at least you must respect them for who they are la

Plaid, your attitude disgusts me. Here, the Live N' Loaded crew are doing their best to keep the show going and showcase the unseen amateur talent on our shores. And there you are insulting the bands that are playing? Heck, maybe they didn't sound too good. But, have you ever thought of this? They;re playing on NATIONAL TV. I'm pretty sure some of them would have been nervous wrecks up there on stage. And therefore, inevitably making mistakes. You sound like you think you can do better. Show us then.

Also, you insulted Plain Sunset, by saying

"whatever plan sunset or colourful sunrise..."
- denotes however popular some of u may be in this pathetic tiny community, it does not mean u r gd in any way

i do not know (or care) who plain sunset is, i jus use this name because its probably mentioned most no of times in this thread. it is jus my way of calling the so call popular bands (again in this pathetic tiny community). tts y i say im not aiming at anyone

Don't you think its unfair on your part to use their name, on the basis that you don't know who they are? And you don't even care? Then why the heck are you posting on this board. And then you still say you're not aiming at any one. next, you said "in this pathetic tiny community". Pathetic is a word i would use to describe you and your pathetic command of the English Language.

Enough said, if you still want to criticize the bands that have played and the show on the whole. Why don't you just run around Singapore and shout it out, or go print some tee shirts that read "Live N' Loaded Sucks" (Which, in my opinion, is the exact opposite, its a fantastic idea from MY perspective). Rather than hiding behind your computer screen and tying it out on forums?

Inspect yourself before criticizing others. Now you were entitled to "your" say, I'm entitled to MY say. So there it is.

...
Believe me, we try to push limits with this production, probably putting our jobs on the line each week, but there's only this much that can really be showcased on national TV. We can push the limits, but not break the rules. Hope you guys can understand that. It's not because we favor certain genres of music, but we have a responsibility as a TV channel collective to cater to fellow singaporeans who at times, expect to be entertained by a dude in a wig with yellow boots and a cancerous mole instead of seeing Jon from Plain Sunset singing "Just kick your shoes off, just relax, kick back, enjoy the show".
...

So OKto channel was started by a group of Poly students right? Though they're still under Mediacorp, any chances of them being less uptight about scoring the statistics of being a channel?
And OKto dedicate certain timings to Arts/Films/Music (Live at Abbey Road wooot!), and even have shows that just aren't that "entertaining". They are, afterall, Central without Vasantham. :D

honestly i hope foreigners wun get to watch live n loaded, so far the overall impression is really "amatuerish"

I wouldn't worry about it Pal. Before they get to see Live n Loaded, almost every other local show on telly is already painfully amateurish, or at least: the English language stuff is.

Having a show where musicians are playing originals is at least a sign of some sort of TV sophistication. Anita Sarawak doing Tina Turner covers or the SARS rap is not.

But here's the thing: why are you concerned about what 'foreigners' think?

For what its worth I am a 'foreigner' from the UK and have been living here for over three years. It may seem strange that some of the bands on LNL, a national tv program are not up to the standard some may expect, but, please consider the bigger picture. The indie live scene here is pretty inactive and as a band you NEED to be playing on a very regular basis to enhance your entire live sound and pressence. In the UK there are scores of live venues in every town and gigs are going on every night. When you get on the curcuit there you natrually evolve over time and you develop a certain sound which is often influenced by the bands you play along with or the crowds you play infront of. Regardless of music genre you are underground, when the time is right you will be noticed and you will get exposure. For some this is quicker than others for some they realise they were not cut out for it, but the fact remains. You have done your time, maybe changed line ups, maybe changed your sound but you have gained valuable experience and made the grade. If we support the scene here it can only get better, lets demand more local shows, lets get off our backsides and attend those shows. Lets raise the bar, one things for sure, I know for a FACT Singapore has the talent out there (or in this forum) to waken the somewhat dormant music beast.
