Live 'n' Loaded - Episode 3 - 10 Feb 8.30pm!

Maybe it's just me but today's crowd looked a bit more rambunctious than usual. Almost like a bunch of drunk chimpanzees.

I thought they should be swaying and singing along to the (excellent) music but they looked like they were more interested in body surfing and banging against each other, and woo woo-ing like banshees.

ps You don't have to agree with me.

unfortunately, i do agree with you..

plainsunset doesnt look that on form leh.. i think they nervous, but they still played well..

sham looks sick.. must be real cold in the studio..

The electric guitars didn't sound very good to me, any reason why? They seemed to be very piercing on the highs, and lacked presence.

Plainsunset definitely performed well for their song 'plainsunset'.
unfortunately, i'm unable to watch the river song. its gets even frustrating when i cant view their online broadcasting even though i tried a few times.
well done plainsunset!

big props to the bands on ep 3! much, MUCH better improvement and quality from last week's.

after the debacle from last week, we can really now see why some bands deserve the respect and some just dont. if you are good, people will support. if you are not, then they dont deserve to be supported. its harsh, but that just how it goes. you cant expect to get support from us just because you are LOCAL and you need the support.

big props to the LnL team for getting some decent acts this week. one hot minute, pervy boy and rachel teo (i think) are all really great. Not forgetting marchtwelve, kate of kale and the mighty PLAINSUNSET.

ps. the crowd moshing looks like bunch molecules from the top. lol.

Wow...

...hugely impressed by the talent and overall quality tonight. Agree with an earlier comment that a couple of the groups all shared the same guitar tone which seemed kind of scooped and thin to me. Anyway a minor nitpick but every performance was enjoyable and all the artists I thought shared some of their character....thought that every performance had flashes of brilliance above the overall standard...which was really good.

Now that I'm watching Mediacorp at least once a week how about doing something about the programming the rest of the week? ;)

Yeah i felt that the guitar sounded very sharp and harsh! Most of the guitar tones were really bad...

oh, and any reason why it has been changed to a 11pm timeslot? if it was because to make way for the new reality tv show, i think it is really sad.

Thank you!!!

Hi guys,

Thanks to all those who came and supported the show, yes the crowd gets a little crazier each week, but all in the name of fun.

Regarding the change in telecast timing to Thursday 11pm, it's due to the fact that most feedback we got from people states that they prefer the show to start later. Well, continue to support us next Thur 11pm k? You can still watch the LIVE webcast next Tuesday from 8.15pm!

Next week's lineup:
The Amps
Allura
Mark Bonafide + Alicia Pan
and more to be announced....

10:1 overall mix compression for TV (more like brickwall limiting than anything else). I'm sure it sounded fine in the studio, before it hit the broadcast mixer.

it was a ton of fun! =D

Yes, the audio feed going to TV is terribly compressed. Hardly any dynamics whatsoever in the mix. Don't know where the audio going to the TV broadcast is being tapped from. If it's coming directly out of the M7CL in the studio, then yeah that kind of explains it. Shouldn't they be running discrete splits to the broadcast mixer?

Hopefully LiveNLoaded can shed some light on this?

they are running splits to the broadcast mixer.
But the compressed is because of the limitations of broadcast systems. There dynamic range available is very small so they have to send everything out thro the brick wall limiting that Barks was referring to.

if they don't then either you find the sound reach you all distorted (in a really bad digital clipping kinda way), or they will have a bunch of people coming and asking them to replace the TV sets because the broadcast cause the speakers to spoil.

So far I think the live N Loaded team are doing a great job of making this work with out the huge budgets you see on live shows from USA etc.

guitars were sounding great in the studio (to my ears anyway)
