Watch Live 'n' Loaded on 27 Jan 8.30pm on 5!!

I was there last night in the recording studio! A long wait to get in, but definitely worth every single minute and hour of the wait!!!! Place was packed!

1) They sold this nice looking GSE Revoltage tee!! So if you are going to future studio recordings, bring about $50 and you can get 2 tees (a Live and Loaded one, and a band's one! I heard from the Revoltage seller that next week is Vertical Rush and A Vacant Affair tees!)

2) The experience is just AWEEEESOME. Propz to Live n Loaded crew for the great studio sound setup! They use great amps and equipment.... spotted the Ampeg SVT3, Vox AC30, Marshall heads, Fender Twin Reverb! Great sound!!! And there was a whole range of Gibson guitars displayed, damn i want the Gibson Dove!!!

3) It's amazing how they changed the bands set in less than what... 4 or 5 minutes between the breaks and performances! Amazing really! Most of the time at gigs, bands take AGES to get up there, gear up and do anything! This is pure discipline!

So to hear it from Saiful's words on how the whole show was run, DOUBLE THUMBS UP for the Live n Loaded show!!!!! Great effort, good job and make it last!!

dope

yo saiful.

great job dude, another outstanding performance from you guys yeah.

must have been great to be the opening band to kick-off this kick-ass show.

and yeah, i tink you guys forgot the Pinholes maybe? probably they'll work the crowd just as good. well, im not a fan of them tho,but i do think they've got the groove.

and yeah, Serenaide reunioun please.

history was definitely made last nite, and in great style too despite the producers sayin they had no budget etc etc.....all looked pretty slick n good to me!!! even the crazy cameras helped give everything more kick (but i am still never watchin Cloverfield or Blair Witch Project)!!! ultra kudos to all involved pls keep it comin n comin...........

hopefully tho we can see a more in-depth kinda interview session in subsequent episodes where bands/artists can talk abt their fav music, influences blah blah.....

Post-show followups are easy to THINK of, but hardest to EXECUTE...

I have to echo that statement. Its easy to come up with ideas, but pulling them off is not that easy. Just because this project is being done under the Channel 5 umbrella does not always mean that they have the kind of funding to push the follow up. As sebastian has already mentioned, whether you believe it or not they don't have much funding for this series, and they are working under zero sponsorship and are not generating any money from this. That this could happen at all is already a very big deal and should not be taken lightly.

Unfortunately and sadly, the existing record companies out there are not so keen on our proposal, and ever so frequent, no one will want to come up with the initial recording and production fees. Every record company is only keen on a distributorship role, which minimizes their potential loss. At this kind of financial downturn period, it is understandable why no one will come forth to support us. Shrug 'n' Sigh!

This has always been the case, whether in good times or bad. Record companies here just don't see the viability of funding a Singaporean English-language alternative music artiste. The most that they'd go is a PMD - Pressing, Marketing and Distribution deal, where the record company covers the PMD for an artiste.

To echo fictionaire's sentiments, at the end of the day, its really up to the individual artiste and band to sort this out on their own. How they can take the initiative to capitalise on the exposure accorded to them from this programme and turn it around to their advantage. Its so easy to go DIY these days - its ridiculous. 10 years ago, buying a 4-track tape recorder was a big investment. Now computers are so pervasive that anyone with a laptop and an audio interface can record and distribute their music from home. And people like us are more willing to spend our hard-earned cash to finance our own studio recordings and press our own CDs, which I've done with my own band. We've paid for our full-length album on our own, with our own hard-earned funds, we're self-distributing our album to stores (damn hard work I tell you), we are servicing our album to radio ON OUR OWN. Cos you can't expect people to do it for you.

You can wait for people to give you a hand out, or you can get up and get moving and take advantage of the opportunities you have. That bands have an opportunity like Live n Loaded is already a Godsend, let's not weigh too much responsibility or expectations on them. Ultimately, its still the musician's responsibility and dare i say obligation to go the full nine yards and push themselves. Because in the real world, where there are no sweet record label deals, no bigshit producers knocking on your door, you have to do everything on your own.

As you can see, I'm having my day-off and i'm just taking notes of everyone's feedback, good or bad, all duly taken note of. :)

Yes, it is our vision to create an all-rounder with Live 'n' Loaded. We initially started out with wanting to have a weekly show, weekly weekend promotional gig, a CD compilation release, a end-series outdoor concert, webstreaming, webcast, free web downloads of outtakes and exclusives, encourage musicianship within schools, and so on.

It's a pity we can't kick off the first series with all that we dreamt of, but what we experienced during the process of putting together this production for the past few months is merely a small reflection and mirror to what our local musicians here faced for the past decades: CHALLENGES & LACK OF SUPPORT/BELIEFS from home.

If you are a journalist or blogger reading this, write about Live 'n' Loaded.
If you are an entrepreneur with an investment plan, think about the untapped local music industry.
If you are a product marketing director, think about what connects with the youth out there (music, visuals, colors, experience) and Live 'n' Loaded offers.
If you are simply a fan of music, pay attention to the great local acts we have here.
If you are sincere, don't compare. Support THIS show.

3 Feb (Tuesday) 8.30pm, you know A Vacant Affair and Vertical Rush will tear the whole damn studio down with their performances.

History in the making!

Still buzzed from last nite! You had to be there to experience the BUZZ!!!

Just warmed my heart to see and hear OUR bands getting the attention they deserve and they took the LOVE and upped the ante with energized performances.

A couple of reservations here and there but overall, this is an AWESOME start!

Kudos to the Live N Loaded team and of course OUR bands!

Full review to come at Power of Pop...

Congratulations to Singapore Music scene! This is a big break for you guys!

P.S. The cameramen made me dizzy. I wanna throw up after the show....

Darn if had the dough I'd sponsor this show full on man.. Don't care if 10 million or 100 million, I sponsor only ah! Darn have to study hard(still young yeah) so can get good job and get good pay. Got enough money, start business, earn lotsa cash, be a darn philanthropist(for music) and support local talent to the max. And no I'm not gonna limit it to Singapore only yeah, most likely to the whole of SEA.

Yeah I'm so gonna do that.

Anyway, comments on the show, I practically loved every second of the show!(except for advertisement time), was one of the best programs I've seen since The Unbeatables. The only thing that made me wanna puke was the cameraman. Walao i like almost vomited(i spat my milo back into cup) when was watching the TV. Thank god it started with GSE, if not I change channel(and yeah GSE is GOOOOOOD:mrgreen:). I have never been a fan of Rnb or Hip hop, but I can say that the performances were just simply great.

So, other than the cameramen that were high on taurine, everything else was greaaaaat!!!!!!:mrgreen::mrgreen:

the Tonight With Jools Holland multiple stages works for me. good call.

but can we kill the music between bands?
it drowns out what people are saying. Utt has to shout.
doesn't create a buzz it's just annoying. i know Taiwanese game shows need a constant racket going on but here it's unnecessary when the real music is doing the talking.
and since it's pre-recorded: it didn't fit the brief of the show: it wasn't 'live' hahah

if you can't kill it: put way lower in the mix.

For those of you who were watching the tele and missed the full performance of GSE's Class 'A' Love Affair, the above shows it all.

My apologies as we can't get all the footages uploaded on our official website as quickly as I would have wanted since our online support are busy peeling mandarin oranges and counting their keropok. We'll definitely upload the awesome encore GSE performance of new song "The Lights".

counting their keropok? more like counting how many red packets they've collected for the past days...or in this case, counting how much they've given out :( haha

but otherwise, I thought the trumpet and overall mix, on that girl's band was pretty cool for live TV. nice work getting the acoustics sounding good!

That was Ling and song - Suburbia - sounded pretty good from where I was standing in the studio.

Well done on the sound... how often do we get to say that in Singapore?

I owe the soundmix and equipment setup to the guys from Show Company, Boon Musical Instruments, internal soundcrew from MediaCorp Studio 1 and also Nick Chan of Wallwork/Muon.

Anyway, we are all still on the learning curve, so in all aspects pertaining to Live 'n' Loaded, it will only get better!

People, head down to "To Texas and Back" gig this Saturday at HomeClub to support I Am David Sparkle! The Live 'n' Loaded film crew will be there to grab some shots and coverage!!

My 2 cents:

A great show! FINALLY!!! The last time we had local bands, though little, strutting their stuff live was on Live on 5. Great to see a show dedicated fully to our homegrown talents.

My only quirk of this show was how the guitar was mixed and how it sounded on tv. I saw great pedals that the guitarists were using but somehow the tone that came out is nothing of what I imagine of what their tone is. An example is just compare Fatskunks' set yesterday to their recent performance on Suria and I think you will get what I mean.

Judging from the posts here, I believe the house mix sounded much better...
