ahha dude im actually referring to ibanez RGs....but basswood guitars in general i feel is bland to taste. Sure you cant argue that paul gilbert and many others like those guitars even tho they can have any axe they want. but i find the tone rather bland and neutral sounding....very dependent on pickups, pedals and amps you plug into rather than having its own characteristic tone unlike say, alder or mahogany.

You should have got a CIJ strat with an alder body! they cost slightly more but hey they are worth every penny in my opinion. You cant find them at Davis tho for the 850 buck price range(don bother asking the ppl there what the guitars are made of, they don know their stuff and i almost got conned into buying what i tot was an alder body jap fender from them)
g77 and tymc stock them tho. altho they cost over 1k its still a steal compared to say, a highway one or american standard. (esp since jap fenders usually have better stock pickups)

I'm very content and satisfied with mine. Alder strats rule!

haha bro.....just like racist.....you are a les-paul-ist man......

lol....I have friends who like les paul just because of looks, the sexy curves. They are even willing to compromise their playing style just to play one. Not for me though. although i love using a lespaul as a recording/practice instrument.......it feels so comfy and comfortable to hold while on my lap :p

Actually, aside from my dislike of LPs, I also harbour immense angst and discrimination gainst the Gibson name and all their subsidiaries... I'd gladly buy an Edwards LP or SG, but I'd burn every Gibson given to me...

The latest "Gibson Sues Activision/Electronic Arts/Walmart/MTV" saga is another sign that the company is losing it's mind. It claims in their press releases that people like Eric Clapton amongst others USE (present tense) their guitars. They claim that their robot guitar is much better than the Fender VG Strat (which was a totally unnecessary statement).

They're like the spoiled brat who's crying over spilt milk and blaming everyone else for their lack of foresight and poor products. It's like, if they make enough noise about something else, people won't concentrate on their QC issues...

Oh well... I hope they go bankrupt and die.:twisted:
 
I really love the Les Paul guitar but I really do not like the Gibson namesake. Mebbe thats why I'm using the ESP Eclipse instead....but before any of you say that the Eclipse is thinner....mine is the full thickness variant..... XD

haha...when i think of Gibson.....i think of the namesake and reputation of the brand......nth else........A good guitar is a good guitar, Gibson or otherwise(haha im in subversion mode :D)

Do you have a link to the article bro? would like to read it. sounds like an interesting read.
 
if gibsons go bankrupt then gibby les pauls,sgs,flyingVs and all that will be damn affordable.

praying Gibson goes bankrupt.
