im primarily a strat player... but when i switch to lespauls.. honestly i dont find it muddy... im usually just very impressed at how it rocks out so much better...

Les Pauls? Muddy? What kind of Les Pauls have you been playing man?

lol whitestrat bro....i thought you hated les pauls?

nah Chanmin bro im just too anal....clarity and single note definition is more to my book, just ask bro Subversion if you wanna know more:lol:

Heh... yeah. I do. But I'm not about to slime the product saying that it's something when it's not.

My point is that it's a horrible guitar DESPITE the fact it's not muddy...

it is la......bro whitestrat i find the clarity when you try to chugga chugga power chords on the neck pup is just.....horrendous. its like too much bass in your face.........i can do the same thing with my strat and it wont overpower...........

Actually, can be done. Bring the heights down. I don't know how muhc clarity you want, but you can't expect what you get from strats on an LP...

On a side note, I have something like this (Silo Special) coming in... I'm SO looking forward to it.

YouTube - Rob jammin on G major track

Listen to that tone!!!

humbuckers are muddy in the neck position but not all. gibson's classic 57 pickup in neck position still retains a good amount of clarity when the gain is turned up. and of course active pickups like EMG 81/85

if you install active pups...it defeats the purpose of having a les paul man.....

almost any guitar can sound good with EMGs....altho your clean tone takes a serious beating :D

that the beauty of passive pickups..it let's u play around with the tone..

Both seems Unique!

I love the sound of Strat and the LP. why? Both guitarist of pearl jam are using one of the Strat and LP! Ha! ha!

You can hear the unique sound of both of these guitars when the band played live on stage!!
Check out the latest Live concert DVD titled Pearl Jam ' Immagine In Cornice' , then u know what i mean....

Anyway I have an american strat stuck with me right now .... looking for its partner ... the Les Paul..he!he!

i totally agree...EMGS to me sound like mosquito when playing lead man......rhythm wise, its ok for heavy crunch or thrash riffing......

Definitely the strat for me... But I might switch to a Les paul depending on the type of song... Love the thick creamy sound of the Les Paul, but somehow I prefer the chime of the strat... Maybe it's the influences. haha.... Blues anyone?

I have:
- 2 fenders american standard STRAT
- 1 fender american traditional STRAT
- 1 fender highway 1 STRAT

So, i vote for STRAT :cool::cool:

I'm for Les Pauls.... I do find that sometimes Les Pauls do sound muddy! That's why I opted for a PRS Singlecut....

Love the sound of strats though, but sometimes the strat sound is just too prominent to the extend you just want something else more in between.
