Metal is not dead, we still have metal veterans like metallica, iron maiden, ozzy osbourne, black sabbath and so on... If you wanna hear a dead generation: Punk Rock and I don't mean Sum 41, Blink 182, Bowling forsoup punk, thats pop-punk I mean Punk real Punk like The Ramones, Old - School Green Day, The Clash, The Beatles, Old - School NOFX their all dead, NOFX and Green Day are also moving to pop-punk nowadays nobody ever does The Ramones kind of stuff anymore. Therefore, Metal is in-fact NOT dead yet but its dying like 75 years old dying kind of think it only has 5 years to live. Punk is dead, and has been for many years already.

This is a really old thread. Iron Maiden and Metallica still stand as the very top two metal bands in my opinion.

Sorry, i really luv Judas Priest too, but i don't consider them metal, rather i would say Hard Rock angle. In the 70's, they were considered metal, in the 70's Kiss was considered metal!! In the 70's, policeman were wearing shorts. Who cares what they think in the 70s!!

Judas priest is still churnign out an album this year. So too is king diamon. Maiden just realsed theirs. Heaven and hell anyone?

Suffocation just released last year, immolation this year, Dismember last year, a slew of black metal bands who i can't keep up with, Iced earth is coming up with new stuff and recording, orbituary, tesla....
