Is metal really dead?

dEAR AEnimic,

Wat i`m tryin to say in e previous post is dat METAL is still surviving becoz of the metal bands dat r still ard doin their thing....
All these new bands jus have something missing in their music...n dat`s wat i meant by "metal is dead in a way"

N again....
My 2 cents

oh well,my bad then...;)
Grunge fo' LIFE!!!

"dying in a way" as something is missing in their music, but you can somewhat...well create something new to fill up the void? Perhaps metal is in such a phase right now.

However there are some good metal bands worth mentioning, and they are alive, some new, some are old.

How can metal be dead?Type O Negative just released Dead Again and there are upcoming releases from other bands too.Black Metal in particular, has risen back with bands such as Dimmu Borgir,Marduk and the great Mayhem churning out albums this year so nope, metal aint dead

I love John 5.

as long as Tony Iommi is alive, don't anyone dare say Metal is dead.

Ahhh. It will live on. Brutal death and BM. Live BM, Die BM. But bands tend to take some disappointing turns. Like Dissection and 1349.

I officiallly take back whatever I've said in this thread 3 years ago haha. Metal's not dead, even though it may seem like it is on the surface. Look at the recent Download Festival and we have cause for concern, the bill included Bowling For Soup, and even gave Linkin Park a headlining slot ahead of Megadeth AND fukkin' Slayer. And this is supposed to be the premier Metal festival in the Uk.

But, if you love your music enough and are willing dig deep enough to find new bands you like, metal is more alive than ever. Just go on Myspace and search your ass off to find bands that play the style of metal you want. I always thought thrash metal was long defunct, but I soon found out about Municipal Waste, Evile, Merciless Death, Fueled By Fire and many other thrash warriors still playing the kind of stuff that you would expect to hear in 1986.

rx7, ya. True enough. But scene kids they listen deathcore and make big fuss out of it. And yeah. sad arh. I once come across a scene kid myspace profile with russian's abominable putridity as his profile song. ahhhh.

scene kids are temporary
metal is forever.

(pain is temporary, pride is forever)
(garang is temporary, chao keng is forever)

who on earth revived this 4 yr ago thread? haha. anyway, i think metal definitely isnt dead and i really dont think it ever will be. Used to love metal although i dont listen to it much now, i still think its awesome and wont ever fade.

A music form will not die, it will just fade from the public eye.
Metal, in fact, will never fade because it has a solid foundation. With almost alot of great musicians coming from that part of music, metal will not die. Unless you're saying it's dying from the mainstream of course.

But y'know, right now the influx of people and some people who act like they listen to metal is certainly on the rise.

Personally... for me,METAL were never dead(and never do care they go mainstream or not).I am just amazed how much they keep on spawning new metal bands which are really good in terms of ideas and production.Yes ,I am from the 80s.Capital for METAL is Germany with Italians and Finland bands are growing. Now listening to ..........AVANTASIA
