Is metal really dead?

wat will happen?
hmm..maybe gt rusty n be called scrap metal!!!
kekekeke
just kidding...
i guess metal like other genres will evolve with time....
: )

in the future it will be known as mental. seriously, metal will always reside in the background of popular music. it neither surges nor wanes, its just... there

for those pussies that say/think/talk about METAL being dead, you are too young to know anything about the metal scene.
Metal IS and ALWAYS will be alive and its here to stay whether you like it or not.one example is for myself and many i know, are still listening to metal from the 80's even 70s or 60s.
one factor that is destroying the metal scene is the crap-genre of
"metal"-core.Pls don consider yourselves "metal" when you aren't.your music is a far cry from metal.i don care and wont bother about the quality of your music but keep metal out of it.
nowadays you see kids at peninsula with tees that read " bullet for my valentine" or " a7x ".well to them, thats whats "in" for them.the media's promoting bands like these and thats what sells.MTV is what they see and they dont show real metal bands on mtv( i hope they wont ever )
for what i know, there are people out there in the local metal scene who are for real.its just that its not popular with the kids these days as they dont know what real metal is.this is all a trend for them, sooner or later, another fad will emerge.
helloween-heavy metal is the law-go listen to the lyrics and you will know what i'm trying to say.
this is just what i can type for the limited time i have.post whats on your mind.i have a million and one reasons to share on why Metal is NOT and will never be dead.

just my 2cents on this.

metal will never be dead
it been more than 20 years and they are still running strong
if metal is dead music is dead
that is how strong metal is!
just my thought

anyway,

enough of the nonsense, this ones for the guys with taste, check out obzen, just got a hold of it. thats some tight shit.
meshuggah-for the ones going "uhh?".

On what terms would a music genre be considered dead anyway?

With all the punks not dead, metals not dead, mas selamats not dead... I'm kinda confused..

If a genre is not popular its considered dead? Or if the bands at the fore-front of the genre (popular) suck, then the genres dead? Or maybe you just don't see anyone listen to that genre or like that genre and you consider it dead..

And why have I never heard anyone say that a genre is ALIVE.. :/

"DUDE! SHOEGAZE IS SO FKING ALIVE MAN! FCK TECHNO! TECHNO IS DEAD!"

I guess no music genre can be dead, unless someone kills all the musicians who play that genre, burns all the books and cds and dvds, deletes the wikipedia entry, and use their ultra hi-tech forget-o-tron 6000 to wipe out everyone (including themselves) memory of metal/punk/mas.selamat.

Which probably isn't possible, because if it was, we would not be speculating if mas selamat is dead, we wouldn't even know his name and face.

SORRY FOR LONG POST :P

i think people -not me- say metal is dead coz they see so few metalheads who really are outstandingly metalheads(something metal, not metal something). people who really dress up metal, all that things. however it is, it is more correct to say metal is dying rather than dead.

but thing is, metal is so common these day with many die hard fans like us, people dont really see the metal in us. they wouldnt know how to differentiate metalheads. coz as i know,

*alamak forgot what to say*

people dont go around having signs that say 'HEY IM A METALHEAD!!!'. we sort of blend in with other ppl. when last time its easier to distinguish a metalhead from the rest(i think so? im young =))

did that make sense. nyahahah

ouh.. since its abt metal.. whats new metal in you guys opinion? and why it seems like most people anti nu-metal? i mean metalheadz.. hmmmmm

My colleagues found it hard to believe I listen to metal when they 1st found out, coz I don't look like someone who listens to it anyway. Even recently, during the metal gigs by megadeth and helloween I found it wierd looking at the people who wore thick leather jackets with patches on them. Just IMO, they can't pull it off like those angmohs.

We CAN pull it off, the fashion aspect of punk/metal.. look at the japanese! Its just that we're too afraid of being judged so we don't really dress outrageously.. (english noob). Agree? :X

As for the I hate nu-metal/metal-core people, whatever is the popular metal sub-genre now most of the purist metalheads will hate, citing not 'true metal' as their reason.. People like metal because of the 'obscure' factor anyway.. same goes for punk, both genres actually share many similarities.. but there exists friction between fans of both genres..

SPREAD THE LOVE Y'ALL!
