even if metal has really good lyrics it doesnt really matter anyway because most of them growl, shriek, scream, yell so much so that you dont understand what they're singing.

Listen to enough of it and you can roughly make out the lyrics... At least I can when it comes to death metal, but vaguely.

Metal will never die, its the most extreme form of music around. But I feel that the US metal scene is becoming more of a 'metalcore' scene, sorry but I don't consider metalcore true heavy metal.

I'd say real metal now is much more widespread in Europe, particularly Norway, Sweden, Finland, etc, but there're plenty of notable bands from other countries too. Krisiun from Brazil, etc. But you don't just look at the prominent bands - these tend to go mainstream way too quickly. I go for underground bands because they seem to be the ones who stay true.

I'm finding Manowar's lyrics quite ridiculous, as if they're the only true metal band and death metal, black, etc are fake.

i prefer melodic death but mani melodic death bands have become more to metalcore.. esp my fav band In flames!! they are so death in the past.. nw... kinda dissapointing though..

I think Iron Maiden, Dark Tranqullity, Megadeth, Wintersun, Dissection all have very good lyrics.

Especially since metal deals with issues that most people choose to ignore. Lyrics do play a very vital role in metal music.

I dig melodeath and meloblack. But I'll really agree that older works by bands of this genre are better. Although I really like new stuffs by Arch Enemy, for example.

at least it is better than mainstream emo bands.. wassup with that.. mostly kids and teens listen to those stuff.. do adults listen to them too??
