Is metal really dead?

metal is definately thriving in europe. the melodic, symphonic, progressive and power metal especially.

in the UK theres this NWOBHM. (new wave of british heavy metal) which is a genre in itself.

perhaps ol' skool metal is a bit dead but metal lives on. i mean hey, im a new fan..

Actually, the "new wave" is decades old...

Metal will never die.

Metallica recently released one of their heaviest albums ever - its not nu-metal you silly fxxks, Black sabbath were C-tuning in the seventies-

Anthrax,Slayer,Iron Maiden, Iced Earth, and Hammerfall all (if not relativly) recently released new albums

Hammerfall, Judas Priest and Manowar are actively working on new albums

Nu-metal has died (Yeeha!)

Hammerfall is for example a kick ass NEW band, not one that has been going since the 80's. These kind of bands give us hope.

Metal will never die.

hehe. you know why black sabbathh were c-tuning? it's a funny story... tommy iommi used to work in steel factory and accidentally cut off his thimbles of his fingers. so he has to wear plastic thimbles on his fingers, so it would be pretty hard to play with fake thimbles on an e-tuned guitar. he also loosened the bridge on his guitar and filed down the fingerboard for easier playing. it's actually quite extraordinary. but i still get your point warlord. just wanted to let you know that they weren't doing it for the heaviness...... it's because tommi iommi had fake thimbles.

I know, but later on, when he had some skin grown back and multiple surgeries, they still had most of their stuff tuned-down at least half a step. And if they hadent of liked the music like that, they would not have made it :-)

i never knew that.. now i can add that to my wide collection of General Knowledge.

DEATH OR GLORY!!!!!! I am now officially a heel...

for ya metal freaks,
if you can't make it in Singapore, don't worry!!! There was once a saying "It ain't the song that's bad, it's the audience that ain't right!"
Australia PBS radio station has the hots for metal, every week on Friday i think, they would commonly airplay new metal music from the underground for 2 hours non-stop. Though they are bias for their kind(who is not?), but they do accept submissions from overseas bands as well. Do check it out guys!!!
By the way, they are the hottest community radio station in Ozland.

yeah man stanger kicks ass. definetly really really heavy. pity there were no guitar solos though. and i felt the song arrangements were a bit messy for some songs. but over all it kicks ass.
