I've played those Godins, string thru body, recessed TOM.

The bolt on model, similiar to the one with P90s, with a HSS config, is like what, 800 bucks? The price is right.

The set neck version, maho neck and body, H - H config, is like $1200.

Great price IMO, and the oiled finish, I hear wood!!!

Only gripe, the overhang of the 22nd fret is quite a long... so the fretboard overhangs out quite a bit. I've seen 1 display model where the fretboard has warped till the 22nd fret is lower than usual, resulting in it becoming unplayable.

I played thro both the bolt on and set neck...

WOOD!!!! WOOOD!!!!!!!!

I rare play past the 15th fret... so it won't hurt.

Anyway my friend got a vintage LG with 24 frets and a set of very curious humbuckers. Blade + rectangular(I think!) polepieces. The blades are one piece but have different heigh for bass and treble strings. Looks like a serrated blade.

I like my guitars to be "perfect" hahaha... so it irked me to no end! But otherwise, the guitars are VERY fine stuff. I would have nicked one if not for that fret thing, SCREW FLOYDS!!!

Interesting pup Edder... ah well, the 80s were the time for wacky designs and experimentation. :P

New @ Davis: Behringer VD1 (List: $75)

it shouldn't be pitted against the Muff- it doesn't sound like one, it's not a fuzz unit... it sounds comparable to the discontinued DOD Supra Distortion...

so its a bit like a copy yeah?

i tried the kx1f last time, stock pups very muddy and the glossed neck ala les paul, not very nice, but neck access is a breeze, thanx to a similar set in neck as the ibanez sz series

the advantage it has over the ibanez sz series is the coil tap and 24frets

pls la. he said comparable. he didnt say it was a copy.

thanks for noting the finer points in my reply :smt023 the mere mention of Behringer these days conjure an image of piracy more than anything else, the manufacturer should not have banked on a replicating culture for their wares but for the initiated, the products themselves are tone-worthy. durability is another issue.

i've gotten good services from Luther pertaining to product availability, hope you put your personal experience in perspective & not be dismissive. before you deem them as pariahs, why not ask around if others receive the same treatment as you did.

the GD 121 has a plastic housing & a metal baseplate. if you think it's as dodgy as those $50 units- no it isn't.

the VD-1/ GD121 mentioned here are products from Davis, not Luther.

yep, i got my gd 121 from them as soon as they arrived, depends on whether you are the one of the first few who put down your name

new @ Swee Lee:

Ibanez Marty Friedman signature model (MFM1)
List: $1,700

despite the quirky stars fretboard markers, the test model was well set up & it's simply a good guitar per se. wish all the SZ models come with locking Sperzels...
