GE / Polling Day on 07-May-2011

off to the polling station... with me 6" ruler*

*must make sure the "X" is drawn in a straight line lest vote is deemed 'spoilt'... :)

hehe, voting is secret, no way he will say.

And even if he says it, what difference would it make? Heh, see him no up? See him more up? With us, against us? He can be a nice guy for who he is, not who he voted for, same as i can be an a55hole, even though i vote for ___, doesnt make me a better person.

Hahaha, lets wait for the result tonight.

Pretty disappointing result for the Oppositions. A number of the voting margins are quite close, less than 10%. Thanks to the flawed and manipulated electoral system including gerrymandering, PAP is able to secure 81 out of 87 seats....despite securing only 60.1% of nationwide votes!

But the 60.1% is the lowest in PAP's history since early 1960s, so that tells us something. PAP is losing its popularity fast and that serves as a timely wake-up call for them. Let's hope PAP wouldn't dare to take Singaporeans for granted again, and serves its people well for the next 5 years.

And congrats to Mr Low Thia Khiang and WP. I hope the six of you scrutinize PAP's policies rigorously and make lots of noise in parliament. I did my small part in putting you in parliament and in charge of Aljunied GRC, so better do a good job! :)

I'm very disappointed with this election's results. Once again, people don't know how to vote!

Many of these "people" are the ones who complained incessantly about PAP and swore to vote against PAP during the last 5 years. But on the polling day itself, the same people chickened out fearing upgrading issues, changes and other repercussions (real or imagined), and so they voted for the incumbent instead. They then justify their decisions to their families and friends regurgitating what they read in the media. And they repeat the same cycle all over again for the next 5 years.

Personally, I curse at this type of voters.

I also feel a bit sorry for George Yeo. Among the PAP bunch, he's the least disliked and is doing a decent job....unlike people like MBT, WKS, VB, etc. for the mess they created and deserved to be voted out. I believe most people in Aljunied GRC did not vote against him on personal level, but against the party he's associated with. Unfortunately, he was contesting in the wrong GRC against a very strong WP team. How I wish MBT was the PAP candidate for Aljunied GRC, and it would be a real pleasure to see him get booted out from parliament!

i voted for what pap did over the past 5 years as a whole, i disagreed with gst hike, transportation hike, not enough help for the poor, old and weak, lousy healthcare subsidy etc
nothing against george, but the people need to send a message to the pap that we are not happy

Sorry... but to me...the only good pap mp is a VOTED OUT pap mp ....

I feel sorry for residents of Potong Pasir - lost by a mere 100+ votes with over 300 + spolit votes that would have ensured Mrs Chiam's win there... and Sitoh's latest comment " For those those in Potong Pasir who did not vote for me, please cooperate" ...

my final take on this whole issue - we Only had 2 elected mps + 1 ncmp previously ...

Now we have 6 elected mp + 3 ncmp = thats a new total of 9 opposition voices in parliament ... especially with the worker's party's A team in - sure to ask some "important issues" in parliament for us ...

VIVA THE OPPOSITION
