His mods. I'll have to say are pretty good. He had changed enough components to make a difference. And those pedals DO SOUND different. Kudos to him.
But in the world of pedal electronics, reverse engineering is like eating rice in China. Before you know it, the info is available everywhere and the next generation of clone modders will pick up from there.
Those who are better will try many other type of changes and come up with their own.
If anyone wants mods in SG, just go to Randolf. He'll do a much better job than you mailing out the pedal to states and back. Randolf is the man and he charges in S$ not US$

No ... a fuzz can be achieved with only two transistors.
what Boss did was creating high gain and throwing in all the parametric eq ...thats why its colors excessively...thus the mods to bring back timbe and clarity.
So as shred suggested ...its preffered to to drive a fuzz with an overdrive which gives due to minimal part count.
Fuzz can also be achieved with a single dual op-amp using an inverting hook up...eg Rat, EH Muff Fuzz to name a few...

Aiyah... when they have mouths to feed, bills to pay and a whole bunch of employees waiting for their monthly pay... its only right to be protective of their business.
Just that the way they go around doing things. Look at Zvex, he's cool and he mingles around in Aron's forum. So far I've not seen any of his stuff being posted online due to the respect people have for him. That is the way to go.
