Boutique Gear: When did you fall for them?

Actually i can just use one tink i never max out the 1700mA of the one spot, but since the DL4 uses 1300mA already i was tinking might as well use a seperate 1spot to power it. Rest of my pedals are into 1 1spot the dl4 into the other.

Im not too sure if using 2 will lessen the noise, it din make much of a diff to mine i guess since they are both plugged into the same extention cord.

Makes a lot of sense. Why do you need so many overdrives btw? It looks overkill....

Ahh, the death rattle for distortion, the SD-1 is my main od love it with my Gibby and VC30. The od3 is set to clean boost, its last in the chain, i never use it as an overdrive, bit harsh to my ears. The rc is always on to thicken up eveything. I love that pedal, it just livens and thickens your tone.....best buy ever.

hey shred post ur rig? interested to see whatcha got -=)

Haha... my rig is not in full attendance. ;)

Some of the stuff is not with me... but i'll just list what I have down? Been doing a bit of downsizing.

Basically... its....

Guitar to
A/B selector to Boss TU12 or
Randolfed Boss CE3
Morley Bad Horsie 2 (in a TB loop, its buffer intros some harsh treble )
Tonefactor Hellbilly
MIJ DS1 (out for repairs to LED)
Randolfed TS9DX
Tech21 Sansamp TRI AC
Demeter Mid Boost
Boss CE2 (out for modding)
Randolfed Boss DD3 (hi-cut mod)
to PA, Speakers, Amp, PC anything...

Then I use 2 1Spots to power the whole thing, some pedals don't agree with each other so they generate hiss/hum when on, so I split them up and all is quiet now.

Waiting the SKREDDY!!!! Screwdriver.... 3 wks to go.... DAMN.

Well, I get the whole family together, I'll do a nice shot.

On a side note, ugh, some of you would have noticed the report on the Bad Horsie 2's buffer above? I realised that when I got my TB looper pedal... been testing those buffered pedals to tone sucking. The Morley is guilty of it. But I need to do some experimentation to sort it out.

Oh yeah Ciel21, abt the RC ...

Your mini review of it is TRUE.... thats why I could not bring myslf to buy it... its like... my guitar's natural tone ain't go enough, i need an extra pedal to make it nicer... :D I couldn't get over that idea! So I decided against buying an RC.

Oh well. Maybe I will one day.

Btw, did you notice? Is the RC booster noisy on high/extreme settings? Noisy as in , pretty prominent noise.

I never really liked the RC as an always on. I find it too thick. I like to be able to produce some twangy sounds and the RC just destroys twang I think. The super hard on I think is better as a front buffer. From what I'm hearing, it will add a sparkle and clarity but otherwise totally unaffect the natural tone of the guitar.

Will tell you how it turns out when I finally get one.

blueark, you got it right... speaking of this fattening (mid boosting) effect...

Does the RC Booster run on any IC Chips?

To each his own i guess. I dunno abt the destroy twang part, i never tried the RC tru anything but my Les Paul which isnt twangy in the first place. My guess is it might be true but then if your looking for twang your not looking for the RC anyway and defintely not tru a Les Paul heh.

Anyway Shred i see it like this, the RC makes anything seem livier and with a bit more body, even if you are happy with your guitar tone i see it as making it even better. And theres no noticable noise as far as i can tell even with the gain knob full up set tru the clean channel on my Laney. Theres an ic in it, but its gooped.

Cant comment on the SHO never tried it, waiting for Ark to get his Wah Probe so we can do an A/B. Good thing we have differnet view on gear, if not we'll just mush up when we play together.

To me, the RC sounds more like it evens out the frequencies. Noise is present in every pedal when the volume/gain is turned up, your guitar/amp isn't totally noiseless either i.e. a constant source of noise

My personal belief is, if it aids me in getting my desired tone then that piece of gear should be in my rig. Currently I'm not using the RC as always on either, but i've been trying out some different settings now and then and it might be possible for me to use it as an always on unit like how the amazing Scott Henderson use it too. Exception being i do not dime out on the vol & gain knobs hehe.

i set my vol to unity ,same vol as when the pedal is on and when its off. Gain to abt 10 oclock seems to be good for my rig.

Ciel21...I share the same joy as you.

I just got my RC Booster from Misse last week.

Prior to testing out the RC I've only seen it online via xotic effects website. I'm a big fan of Scott Henderson, his strict standard for tone led me to discover the RC after reading about him including it in his rig. Initially I headed over to Misse's place to check out some delay pedals, but curiousity got the better of me and I checked out an RC instead. It sounded AWESOME! I wish I had this pedal earlier!

I'm playing a Jem77fp through a tonebone classic, the tonebone classic to me is a really good all round dist pedal. Probably the best pedal dist I've ever heard, of course not comparing to real amp dist. But it's more of a one trick pony, you dial a rhythm tone and it doesn't really click well with leads. I use my RC after the tonebone in my setup...the RC just makes everything sound much more musical. I get that extra boost which I'm looking for plus I get to tweak the EQ to suit my needs.
It's really hard to describe what it actually does. It's almost magical!

It does not colour your tone, you're hearing your guitar and not the pedal. Push the gain up and you get a nice mellow overdriven sort of tone, the eq controls on the RC are extremely sensitive. Which is really great. Up till now I haven't heard a bad setting on my RC.

On clean tones I'm able to boost the volume and definition of my in-between positions of my guitar. For users of hum/sing/hum, you'll know what I mean when I talk about the volume drop when you engaged the split coil positions. Excellent tones from my 2nd and 4th positions in my 5 way with the RC.

However I'm playing through a small solid state fender bronco for practice at home. I'm sure if you put it in front of a tube amp, you're going to get much more dynamics from this little wonder. I'm gassing for a Mini Z now.

I'm really happy, and Misse was really great the whole process. Gave me the opportunity to try out the pedals, in fact any damn pedal I wanted. I got the impression he didn't really care if I was going to buy anything at all, just so long I could find the tone I was looking for.

Best Bucks I've ever shelled out on a pedal!

Thanks Mr. Misse!:)

P.S. Shredcow, I haven't really experienced any notable noise from the pedal yet.

Ah.... another one has fallen for the RC! :) Hmmm, looks like its a quiet pedal... my friend reported it being noisy... strange.

Matt, why do you need a booster for a GT2? Unless you are looking for versatility in a live setting, the GT2 has more than enough gain for up to Death Metal.
