Imo, every year after year, u will porbably see the same band playin over and over again at Baybeats. Its getting boring...

Come on guys! It's not the end of the world if your band can't play in Baybeats. There are many big and small music festivals that cater to different genre of music in overseas. Bands that I have recorded had performed in Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, and America.

hehe, yes, yes, i believe all of us in the forum can differenciate between, grind, kvlt, noise, art and real music. But unfortunately, lotsa people dont and dont want to care nor bother with it. Leave them alone. They deserved some peace and space then to let us infiltrate their space and show them how we \M/...

Alamak, dude, so all this is about how your band cannot get into the auditions for Baybeats. I'm sorry. It seems to me that this thread and aggreviation is becuz your band Withered Tree cannot get in. Cuz despite all the talk about doing a good event to showcase hard rock and metal still leads to the constant hung-up about the Esplanade and them not supporting your genre of music. I never see that lack of any form of support get the LionCityDIY punks down...
Congrats! Would you start bitching too if your band doesn't make it past the cut? Heard some of Quasimodo's tunes before. Quite cute.

Well, after reading through all these posts, here are my heartfelt reactions/personal opinions- its just my OPINION and not fact so think twice before you start shooting me cos its going to make you look like an idoit....here goes...
I find that Baybeats is a very good show for bands. However, like like many have said, i feel the emphasis is too much on pop rock/indie bands. There are of course good pop/rock indie bands like Electrico and The Great Spy Experiment(friggin awesome) that have performed at baybeats, but i feel organisers need to open up their scope to allow more bands from different genres to come up and play. Its not really a matter of how heavy the bands are....i think most ppl think heavy as grinding drums/pounding bass/scooped guitar riffs you can be heavy and STILL be an indie band. So long as bands agree to the terms and conditions and there's no nonsense like profanities and swearing on stage, if the bands are good, let them in i say!
But on the other side of the coin, this is Singapore....so please give the organisers time...I'm sure they have good intentions at heart thats why baybeats is being launched...plus is free....can we really ask for anything more? Heh, i still remember how my dad told me that in the seventies, Deep Purple weren't allowed to come to Singapore unless they cut their hair...It was only in the 80's den when the govt relaxed its iron fist and started to open up den they came.
Oh and one last thing.....my band has never applied for baybeats before. so no sour grapes here. peace.

Crazy la! if you do notice its not about baybeats . read the post bro. We understand that baybeats is an Indie event . and what makes you think we applied ?
even if we ever did an not got thru we will be more matured than to hold a post like this in vengence.
This is a forum about how Heavier music like us can get a platform to perform in events that of the scale of baybeats. This thread is not putting baybeats down. if you really bother reading the threads you will realise that i did praise baybeats. But this is an issue that alot of ppl are discussing. Heavy bands feel that they arent getting that form of exposure. this is the talk among ppl i know..
so aging youth dont jump to assumptions and yes, this thread is about organising an event as kick ass as baybeats or at least talking about it to full fill our satisfaction for the seconds that we spend doing finger exercise . Its about helping the Hard Rock Sceane brother. Chill chill this thread is to help .. i will still be going for baybeats.
P.S : the reason i created this thread was so ppl would stop thrash talking on the baybeats 08 thread and spend their views or frustrations here . Refer to the baybeats 08 thread post 69. anyway i dont want to say anything more wait Aging Youth will label my band as sourgrapes all... hahahaha its all cool bro
