Baybeats and its lost lambs thread. We got something to say thread

i was quite surprised my band got selected for auditions. tats enuf to make me happy... :)
but i do understand tat a few power2 bands who nvr get it, makes me wonder why.

wateva it is, there will be a time and day la (hopefully) for heavier music kind of gig/shows. i would love to be a part of it.
but the organisers will be reli thinking hard b4 doin it unless the appeal is reli2 strong.

Since we all know that Baybeats is geared towards pop/indie rock stuffs, why even bother to whine??

You want a good metal shows, there are many underground gigs available :) No biggie in my opinion.

There is a time and a stage for every season/genre/bands. If you don't make it this year, keep trying. Whining doesn't get you anywhere nearer my friends.

That being said, I still hope that you guys will go & support Baybeats. Imagine Singapore market already so small, then got so many arguments here and there about genre and whatnot.. How is the market gonna continue to sustain if we continue to divide among ourselves??

Put our differences aside & get together to enjoy gre8 music by the bands who made it through. Didn't they say music is a universal language?? So now it is separated by genres??

Haha..

Thanks for your honest opinions! Yes , we are working hard on the vocals. Our dear frontman taking vocal lessons currently la. Nearly everyone who heard our recording have the same comments as you ( which includes the rest of the band :D ).

For the recording part , we will just leave it to our producer.haha.

there's this website to start petition right ?

let it be.. let it be.

not everybody can be the son of sam,
but its okay if deep down inside, you feel that you are the walrus.

quality will seep through, no matter the platform

mwahahaha, why like that, when i walk one time knock into the wall, i try to detour, not to keep banging in the wall. Since the wall cant move, i shall be the one to change path instead of banging on the wall over and over again hoping for the wall to collaspe and walk straight. People see liao laugh at me for wasting my energy over the wall when i can look for the side path to walk

The more I think about it though, the more I like the idea of having an annual festival for heavier music.

Let's say baybeats weren't even involved in the picture- let baybeats do their thing!

Is there something we can all do together to make this happen?

I believe Mark Koh/Saito started something along those lines with FLOW! and perhaps has more experience in working large scale on this sort of thing. He doesn't seem to post around here anymore though? Mark, where are you man!

hehe, other then those, also must see whether the style of music fit in the theme of the festival mah

we cant go to glastonbury and wish its milwaukee metal fest.

GSE did play baybeats in 06..

That i believe is the criteria for the audition, but how about the criteria from which they choose the 30 bands to go for audition out of the numerous applications??

do u understand what i am trying to say over here?

well, i'm assuming the panel picks the 30 bands that they FEEL would best suit the direction that Baybeats is going for.

in my opinion, it boils down to branding in the sense that Baybeats is being "sold" as a platform for indie/post-whatever bands. so you might go as far to say that the organizers don't want to weaken the brand identity of Baybeats as a whole by widening the scope of genres/bands that they would invite to play.

let's be real here, Baybeats doesn't garner the same respect as say Big Day Out or Summer Sonic in Japan where people actually bother to PAY to see the bands they adore. i guess if local audiences would be willing to fork out a little cash then maybe the Esplanade would consider organizing an event to cater to Hard Rock/Metal scene in Singapore.

but then again, do you honestly see that happening?

Baybeats said we are too brutal to play :(

Hey man, they really said that to you? =/

Even though i don't know what are some of the criteria the judges base on to choose the 30 bands for audition. I just have a few question. Did they really listen to all of the demos? Or did they just see your "application form" on your Genre/Experiences in play and decide on there straight away? Or do they base on the popularity of your band (i.e. is your band super famous now)?
