Any pedals that can REPLICATE a Mesa Dual Rect type dist?

Mesa Rectifier sound?

Fuzzy distortion, mushy loose bass, almost non existent useable lead tones, cant cut thru in a band(to some extent). Triplets are like sludge.

Rectifiers are overhyped. Especially in the metal community. Yeah i thought rectos are teh omgwtfbbql337 amp for metal when i was a metalnub.

well im still a metalnub harhar but I'd rather have teh TIGHT chug from a Mesa Mark IV over the recto anytime.Or non mesa? Framus cobra or Peavey 5150 or a boosted Marshall JCM800. TIGHTASS AMPS. I LIKE EM TIGHT YUS!

but hey mang its just me and my 2 sen

I'm thinking of sending it back for that. I think the Openhaus has a little too much low end and I don't like how the physical knob is always set to 11 oclock. Haha. Aesthetics, aesthetics.

Yea, and it's free...besides shipping. I think the Openhaus is fine on the lows, but it really depends on what amp you use it with. 11 o clock is ok what! I'm sure the newer version will allow for greater versatility, but until I feel I need that, my current one will work just fine. Maybe I will tahan until the next time an even newer version comes out and send it for the mod then. :D

Haha. Can someone please demo the toneczar openhaus as a metal pedal before I actually buy and regret buying a Zvex Box Of Metal. I heard the demo after many other people said it was good... (they also mentioned the openhaus though) and when I found out it was at blackwood I went there and got blown away. Lol. Please demo? You know you want to(:

wait...is the demo of the openhaus - openhaus demo clip01???
well it was alittle dry and quite low gain...

i wouldnt say thats a good representation of what the openhaus can do.

Yeap. It was. Pretty interesting first time mic-ing up stuff.

I didn't use the high gain setting and really, that's a lot of gain without that setting on. I thought it was a good rep though because well, that's the kind of sound I'm after. EDIT: I forgot to add I'm using a "pathetically" low output humbucker.

I'll do a few more clips as I figure out what's a better/good way to mic up - got to read up on mic-ing techniques.

You should check out goose's muff redux though.

I think its fairly common sense and understood that no pedal can ever achieve the tones from an amp. some of the most wicked tones ever recorded by anyone's personal top 10 guitarists are probably from the amp with alittle colour from the pedals.

So now we are trying to REPLICATE. And i m assuming you wanna spend little money and just get a relative close to Dual Rect tone in the comfort of your room right? Becos if you are thinking of gigging with such as setup, you may be disappointed. After all the time & money in experimenting and spendin on bootek pedals, you might as well just save your ass off and get the real thing. Go to Blackwood and try it out for yrself.

But if this is your phase of mastering the instrument in your bedroom, IMHO, just getting a high gain pedal is as good as simply replicating the Gain knob on a MESA. you still have the EQ, Presence and a very impt Master Volume knob to replicate. All these plays a part in the type of dist u term as Mesa Dual Rect. and this is only the amp head replication we r trying. i dunno of any guitarist simply pluggin their MESA amps into the PA without miking a cabinet SO... next up you need to replicate the speakers.

Again lets say we dun wanna spend much money and you wanna feel the POWER of the Mesa, i hope you have an old mini-combo or hi-fi set with AUX-In laying around. These home entertainment systems are built with great freq responses ( unlike recording purposes whereby you wanna get things flat ) that help enhance and make your audio CD or movie DVD sound awesome. So u can trust they will help you make yr guitar tone sound better than it actually is too ( anyway this in yr own privacy, no harm cheating on yrself ).

Hopefully this will help you get a decent PRACTICE tone that can inspire you to play.

You mean this?

openhaus audio clip01 - tv show intro (customer submission) = not Amir. Interesting how punky it sounds though.

Amir's clip is The Open House.

There was another clip last time, a video of a dude with a strat. It was also low-gain-ish but damn, that was beautiful tone.

All this talk about the openhaus is making my hands itchy although i know i don't need one. Man... Lucky no chugga chugga clips or else confirm order.

You can check out AMT california pedals. I have one and it suppose to simulate the sound of a mesa boogie rectifier amp. Do check it out....

try using an amt dt2 or behringer gdi.
set to classic, high gain and california.
set the bass and treble below the 9 0clock point.
set the bass around 830 and treble almost zero.
gain depending on your preferrence.
for single coils, set the gain slightly above 9 0clock.
boost it with an od.
recommended od would be maxon od9,od808,voodoo labs sparkle drive.
any other ods would work fine.
the next thing u have to do is sit down, shape your amp eq thoroughly.
bring the mids lower on the amp.
the classic setting brings out the closest amp sound.
and it brings out natural mids too.
so you hafta lower down the mids on the amps.
try twiddling between california and brit.
and most importantly, shaping the amps eq.
from marshalls,to mesas,to krank, you can get the closest sound to it.
but the key to getting the tone is to sit down, tweak the eqs,so on and so forth.
it requires lots of patience and time.
and the end of the day,it'll be a joy rockin out with such tone!
trust me.
try it!
hope it works.
