Warning: Be mindful of what you post on SOFT

Because of the environment we live in, and the regional developments, we will discriminate the different races in one way or another. Maybe not as extreme as the blogger, but on subconscious level. We are not perfect, it is inevitable and or rather natural that this discrimination arises. You can lie to the your friends from other races that you see all races as equal, but you can never bluff yourself.

If we want to get rid of discriminations, we should all just live in a communist state.

im perfectly imperfect :)

im not racist at all! serious.. how can I be? (or maybe its because I define racism as not looking down on someone based on skin colour, and not treating them differently)

maybe im not racist (discriminate skin colour) because tanned beach volleyball girls are damn hot :X

the only race that should exist is a mini 4WD Tamiya race.

segregation.. haiish.
what about those mix blood people? :/
what if my friend is a CHINDIAN, or a MALAEURASIAN. haha

I always thought success was attributed to trying to impress the other gender!

Really? I thought success was attributed to living a self-sufficient, comfortable life where you can afford to have decent stuff to live with?

I think jail may be a little harsh, but I think the government is right to impose penalties for racist comments. Singapore has a history of racial violence. While relative prosperity has helped to this being kept to a minimal right now, there is still a need to temper the fundamental freedom of speech with safeguards for society. Racism, especially against Asians still exists in big cities like New York and Boston, and while perhaps it may be instinctive and impossible to eliminate - which i disagree with - it should not be allowed to manifest itself in tangible form in society. The post-80s generation of Singaporeans have never dealt with racial violence or discrimination, so take it for granted that the value of "speech", treasured especially by the young, is an all important value in itself. However, a simple trip to nearby India, where racial violence amongst the different Indian races (and castes) themselves is frequent, would probably change this mindset. Free speech is a right, and is entrenched in our Constitution. Perhaps jailing may be a little harsh a punishment; some form of rehab and a public apology would probably accomplish a similar goal at a smaller price. But free speech definitely needs to be limited, as words wound and can cause damage. Public racism which has an actual chance of inciting or causing other forms of racism, definitely cannot be allowed, as the cost to society, which is all of us, is way too high.

are we talking about races superceding one another now? I always thought success was attributed to trying to impress the other gender!

*quiz time*

Do you think a certain race has a superior advantage to opportunities in general when it comes to Singapore?

a) yes
b) no
c) i don't care and anyone else who does should be given jail time

(hint: picking A will probably make you a racist, B just plain ignorant)

if so i shall pick D which is ummm.

d)ti all depends on connections! the people who you are connected with!
stop racism!

Actually, i've read his blog. Skimmed, really through his entire bunch of posts. I don't think his comments were particularly seditious, racist to a degree, but not a burn your house down kind of racist. He seems more preoccupied with all things beoootiful, which of course includes himself, and condemns people that are outside his experience. Is this an accurate depiction of today's youth? Is 22+ considered a youth?

Too bad that he worked at the ammo base, because i bet if he were in a unit, he'd have a totally different viewpoint.

But it's also interesting that in the hardwarezone thread, 2 forms of prejudices are immediately apparent - racism and homophobia. It's funny how one form of prejudice is upheld, while another is condemned to a jail cell to have visits from a buttery rod.

To jail him, would be an injustice, but most importantly, i suspect, if this case was used to justify stricter legislation on the big bad internet, it would be the greater injustice for all.

P.S. read saturday's straits times. iirc andrew ho has some not very good things to say about the internet.

Ya, I don't think Fragrance Gay Prince was exactly 'discussing' race or religion.

And some people were already found to be harboring intentions of destruction 'in the name of religion' and they have been implicated, punished and rehabilitated.

Mas Selamat was detained for 6 years without trial, mind you. For planning to bomb us all.

Love

yeah man this one is really a sensitive issue, DANGER ALERT....!!!

U knoe what people, we all should love one another regardless of race, language or religion.
The actual fact is, we may all be from different races, differen wals of life, but still, we have the same colour of blood. U dont see humans with green blood, blue blood, yellow blood, even if its white blood, its still red.

My beloved SOFTIES, young and old, New and senior, Lets care and Love for one another, We care for one another, means we care for Mother Earth.

The following is based on true experiences :

1) today, I queue up malay stall,

2) the day before I eat chinese food at my day office job. chap chai peng (economy rice) ,
3) the last time (and that was the LAST time) i went to newton circus to eat, an indian drink stall served me sugar cane,
indian/chinese/malay, .

Now I tell you my experience.

I went to buy Nasi-Lemak (long-Queqe as always at my place Jurong) – the best Nasi-Lemak store – Extra Chilli have to pay – but I don’t have to – cause they love.eee me simply.

I buy from Chinese store – I always get extra food yet pay less – same same – they like me.

I buy Roti-Plata from Indian store – I get all the Hot-Ones plus sometimes get Mutton inside the curry – free one – They like me…

Hahahahahaha…………………..ok

Me (a Chinese) and my few other friends went to Newton (malays) drink and eat after clubbing late in the night…A few Ang-Mo walk past us – then laugh-out-loud saying “Speaking Singlish eh.hh in a very scarcastic manner looking at us ” and not apologetic to us here …… you would have guess what happen next har ? ….. chai-see

Then we remember our pledge - - - “We The Citizen Of Singapore, Pledge Ourselves As One-United People, Regardless Of Race Language or Religion” – then Wow..wwww the next thing - I’ve never seen such unity among us – but - - We did Our Country Real Proud man, trust me, We did shut their big mouth up ……….. Yeah. And That’s it (no further comment here)Full-Stop.

I'm really a good Citizen who is real proud of my country (don't assume frame me on what we did) - I just said we shut their mouth up that's all....

OMG – You don’t thing his posts were Racists in any way? – It was a clear cut outright Discrimination against the “Malays In Singapore”……and one need not go to the Extend to Burn a house to be coined a “Racists” …. Cause if he did – That would be a Double charge (Arson plus Being A Racists Steering-Up Dis-Harmony in this country).

PS: - I do understand what you are trying to say - Is that it is not that serious a case that - He might be Jail (but to a Country) -anything that can or might stir Political Unrest will be dealt with seriously (especialy here in Singapore)

Anyone above 21 is no longer consider as a Minor (in the code of law) and will be dealt with as if he was like any other adult

As mentioned, who determine “What’s Justice or Justifiable & Deem Acceptable” ? – The place we are at the point in time ….In Singapore – It’s justifiable to be - Singapore law.

Look at it this way – a Large Country like eg in the USA – different States within USA different law is applied – eg You commit a Murder in a certain state – “It could Be a Death Sentence” in some other States even within the US “No Death Sentence – just Life-Imprisonment” – Why So? … Well it’s up to the State-Law.

I think this case will serve as a Precedent (which I don’t think so), but more so, a Reminder to us all – That This is not acceptable here.

All the while, governments had been trying to set up Stricter-Legislation in the Internet, but this is tough be it for Business-Practice or this case for instance….as many people thought that (We will be FREE as to do or say anything in the Internet – cause it’s not govern by anyone” – Think Twice again – It’s just a matter, whether they wanna take action on it – so just too bad for this guy – He ask for it….

To us – be it a Jail Sentence or whatever plus or minus – doesn’t really matter to us (we gain nothing and we lose nothing out of the Verdict) – but this is indeed an example to us all – and hopefully will serve us well as into – Be Mindful With Our Words In The Cyber World.

Deh, i think sedition is a rather far more different serious term to use than being just plain ignorant and un exposed. He is being investigated for this infraction. Do i think whatever he said is going to foment deep racial tensions? No i think all it does is to show how some people are still kids and how the attitudes of the young are all about looking good, fitting the image, not tolerating other views that are different from their own. In fact all it does for me is to think that most kids ( yes i think he's a juvenile) with spikey haircuts and speedos, are as ignorant as cow dung.

One thing that is really frightening is that there was no response, extended flame baiting, etc from the guys in edmw vs the original poster, just a quick hey you suck i call police now. That's it. No way of reasoning things out. Just resolve it through legal/police violence. And it's also important to note, that it's not the police that started investigations, it requires a person from the public to file a report. They will not act unless someone gets offended by it. Someone who doesn't adequately act within their own capacity to reason and resolve an issue, and instead relies on an exercise in power to whitewash the situation into the colour that he/she likes, is not much better than someone imposing his view on others.

The like
The like, the bad thing, like, about, like, racism yeah? Is that racism makes us feel like animals
And animals like to eat. It's like, um, eating each other? But not in a sexual way. I mean like, being totally like, ANIMALISTIC yeah?
We must be Singapore. We must be like, responsible. Responsible with a capital R, can? Just like Bedok is the capital of Singapore and like, Auckland or whatever is like the capital of Africa. We are one brothers

Where is the love? Said where is the love

Harmony is so important. It's more important than a harmonica, can?
If you were racist against me, I will be angry. If I was racist against you, you will be angry. Maybe your daddy will even get angry and slam dunk your sister through the table to teach her good manners?

Why should we like, tolerate, like, racism and all that nonsense?
We are all created equal under God's eyes, whatever that God you choose to believe in, yeah?

So if you feel like being racist, take it to the bank and cash it in. You will only get a $0 cheque my friend, because racism is worthless.

So like, go to Ikea and buy new furniture. Or climb a tree and throw berries on the floor for the little children to eat. Maybe you can even fold paper aeroplanes and fly them to the moon with the flying saucers? Do anything else...

...BUT DON'T BE RACIST!

Like, for real.

With sexy but non-racist love,
BIG DADDY G

Bro the so-called racist wrote:

PS: - Those words he states in Bold are very very provocative dont you think so........and targeted to the Malays, challenging in fact....so how could we blame people who read all these........

He asked for it...(if the above is exactly what he actually put up at his personal blog) thinking all high and mighty - that he is untouchable......

One love, brothers, one love
IF we react with like, hate, like, we are no better than the racists.
Malays, Indians, Chinese, EUrasians, Ang Mohs, and people who wear strange green hats. We are all the same brother, one love, one heart, one people one nation one country brothers.

Do not react with hate
Why get irate?
We are at peace with our healing hearts brother.

Do not fall into the traps of hate. Like, hate, is like, the opposite of like, spongebob.

Yours with non-racist love,
Big Daddy G

If a kangaroo is white or black
or green or pink
Is it not still a kangaroo?
Yes, the kangaroo is in different colours
But like, it still has a pocket? Does it not still give a killer kick boxing like, power?

We, humans, different colours, different race, different smells and scents and touch
But we are all humans like yo, like, yeah.
Just like we all SOFTies, yo, and we some serious motherf*****s.

BIG DADDY G

I don't know what you were trying to say with your ambiguous national pride us versus the "Ang-Mo" anecdote. It just seemed out of place after your racial harmony at the kopitiam story.

Ang Mo (simply means) Eurasians here or Caucasian (a connotation) ... National Pride here means yes - please dont belittle we Singaporeans "saying - They Are Speaking Slinguish" and mocking at us Singaporeans publicly that's all . .... It's nothing....Of course whether you're a Malay, Chinese whatever - "you nor anyone will will tell them - " Oh Shut-Up"...

Something wrong here or you have your own interpretation here or are you trying to stir up something here now - and flame me? Huh ?
