guys we really should lower the ASSUMPTIONS... a LOT of assuming going on!!!
1) the sound was bad, there was probably a good reason for that. if not, the sound engineer was probably fired =X
2) if u do not personally know the bands, how do u know if they are RAWK or POP? this is a competition and there are compromises
3) in any "publicity", you will be tied down by a contract. the dude that win's whatever idol will be contracted to that company (e.g. mediacorp) for 1 year, in which he cannot perform unless mediacorp says so (prolly cuz they can profit from that performance). this is logical and not demanding at all - the media controls your fame.
4) nkubi87: you're right, rock isn't any part of the "mainstream" genre in singapore =( but did u know that chinese pop has quite a lot of rock in it? i respect chinese pop especially when they have those ballads with awesome vocals AND AN EVEN MORE AWESOME GUITAR SOLO 8) sadly, the english speaking community in singapore listens to rap n R&B (as a joke, rubbish n bullshit, haha) and stuff like my chemical romance, simple plan, etc. bands that are marketed out of very little talent and ambition (the real bands that have good music but cant make it big cuz nobody wants to market them are OUT THERE SOMEWHERE, businessmen just dont see the profits of making other peoples' dream come true) no offense to the bands themselves or fans of the bands/genre mentioned above.
