i think its a great thing that channel U .. as organisers are willing to listen to the people's needs for auditions...
i tihnk all this slamming... of mainstream t.v and the supposed "idol syndrome" in singapore is very childish..
honestly music business... is a business.. so therefore profits take priority..
they didnt force feed commercial boyband crap down humanity... humanity chose to make commercial bubblegum pop the hottest selling hotcakes. thus most music businesses focus on churning out profit making machines...
listen to the music you love.. and try to respect those that you dont like , or dun understand. Dissing any form of music is just dumb and myopic ---> esp if you are a musician

Have you even read the criteria? Because it sounds to me that you did not at all.
Rock band trying to enter w/o any instruments that need amp or/and drums. Think about it before you say that we're just dissing for the sake of dissing.
And not forgetting this...
If you became a musician for the sake of either or totally for chicks, fame, or money, you are desecreting the art of music.

I dare admit I was being childish... For the F.I.R part, yes.
But look at Sylvester.
During Singapore Idol, you heard his singing tone.....
He did not put his emotion into singing, you can feel that right?
You can feel that he wanted a quick way to fame.
Whereas look at Taufik.
Can you hear emotion in his singing?
You mgiht argue that I'm being childish and narrow-minded again, but I'm still sticking to my arguement.

He composes it, and rewritten it to the extend that it is very beautiful.
Example, the live version of Far Beyond the Sun, album LIVE!!!.
You can really feel the emotion, the feeling, settling down on you at ard 2 min. That's one example.
Not forgetting the complexity and beauty of every notes of the song, as he rewrote and rewrote his songs over and over again as he find the sweet notes... well for every notes.

erm.. ok marksman .. i am truly a malmsteen fan myself.
but when i found out that superband auditions had no amps.
i got ready my acoustic guitar. and my drummer was prepared to use percussions.
i simply thought that wanted to save on setup time , due to the massive number of participants. every band go in.. setup drum pedal... tweak bass amp.. not to mention.,.guitarist effects chain.. and tuning... waste alot of time.
i felt that the bands that get thru... the first round... at least got some standard... then rent instruments for them to use next round will be more effective. anyway auditions is very fast ma..
you may not even get to finish your song. then get buzzer already.
