Hey Brothers Of Soft Drum Exchange Singapore: (Kekekeke)

I just got advice from someone - that anything that uses the word "Singapore" - cannot anyhow put one lar - How ?....

meaning we cannot just put " Drum Exchange Singapore " - wait har someone from the government come after me lah...then I cham liao....but seriously we have to check up on this.....I know this is applicable for "Company"...but what about us - I wonder any legal implication is tie to this - Aiyoh headache lah - didn't know of this until now....

Assuming - lets say after I check and confirm - "CANNOT" - then what?

Drum Exchange ?????????????

Paiseh paiseh - maybe as a Contigency plan - we now have to think of something that sound ROBUST (so that it reaches out with a certain X Factor) here to replace the word "Singapore"..

everyone - help put on Thinkingg Cap - see all the small little nitty gritty consideration here - lots of work lol !

Yo RD: There is no concern if the only thing you're doing is printing T-shirts.

However, if you plan to register as a Society, then it's allowed, but must be in brackets.

REGISTRY OF SOCIETIES FAQ
http://app3.mha.gov.sg/ros_images/docs/faq_data.htm#Q18

18. What are the guidelines for Names of a society?

The society's proposed name should not be the same or similar to that of another society or company/business that is already registered. To check, you may refer to the websites http://www.mha.gov.sg/ros (for societies) and http://www.acra.gov.sg (for companies/businesses). Below are some examples of similar names that ROS may not allow:

* Hope Friendship Centre vs Hope Friendship Services
* Outdoor Trekkers Club vs Outdoor Trekking Club
* Revival Faith Fellowship vs Revival Centre Fellowship

· The name of the society must be spelt out in full. Acronyms/abbreviations are not encouraged.
· Please provide a letter of support from the relevant authorities if you are using any of the following words as part of the name of the proposed society.

"Academy"
"Asean"
"College" (with exception of an alumni)
"Council"
"Government"
"Institute" (with exception of an alumni)
"Lion City"
"Merlion"
"Ministry"
"National"
"Raffles"
"Republic"
"Registry"
"State"
"Stamford Raffles"
"Temasek"

· Similarly, please provide a letter of support from the relevant authorities if a name of a country is used as part of a society's name.
· The word "Singapore" or its abbreviation is allowed to be used within brackets at the end of the society's name, eg. ABC Society (Singapore) to indicate the society's place of registration.
· The word "The" shall not be used as the first word in the name of the society, eg. The ABC Society. You can name the society as "ABC Society, The" instead.

· A society will only be allowed to use the word "Foundation" in its name if it is financed by a donation, legacy or an endowment.

But, to be extra sure about name usage, you can always give MHA a call to double check and ask for advice. Whether our kind of activity/publicity requires registration as a society.. etc...

Yes Bro Weckl you are correct.

There is no Problem with using and printing the Words "Drum Exchange Singapore"...I've checked with 1st a Lawyer and secondly with Toyota Club Singapore Committee (a Registered Non Profit Club of CES Car Enthusiast Club Singapore). There are many car clubs eg Sienta Car Club, Wish, Celica SG, Altis all which are non-registered clubs using Singapore - it's fine.

Today they are more lenient even a Singapore Flag can be printed on Tees (just depending on where, which part)...The word Drum Exchange Singapore on Tees and Banner is of no problem at all - that's great ! ...

I'm happy at least we all look at all angles to be on the safe-side..

What could better describe us all than Soft Drum Exchange Singapore !!! -

good we can now go ahead with it......cheers !

PS : Oh and yes It's perfectly ok that we register or not to register as a Society (but non-profit plenty of work to be done plus many other factors here to take into account)...so To Registerer or Not To Register when the times comes = We will leave it to James to decide on this....for now - we don't need to as yet. Lets build this up 1st.

Yes, I agree to what Eric had said about the Committee. We must not have dominated power by any individual. That explains why we have 12 person in the committee now. Everyone has an equal say in the committee whenever we have a meeting. Committee members are just representatives of people of DES. In fact, should anyone has an opinion or suggestion, please feel free to bring it up. We are one big family. :D

I'm glad that we are into details such as whether we are allowed to print Singapore. I'm also glad that we have intention of privatizing DES and making it a non-profit organization. Nonetheless, this is a result of everyone's effort. RD,plainsman and the committee had put in some work. But everyone else put in the rest of the work. Without you guys coming, DES is nothing. The committee will just be spanking mosquitoes.

On this note, I hope everyone understands that no individual but EVERYONE is helping it, regardless of whether you're in the committee or not.

Finalisation Of Tees Design- Identity / Slogan etc

Dear Committee Members & members

All design (Logo whatever) as contributed by anyone here is to be put up at this Thread by latest Wednesday 12th September 2007 - so that by Thursday - the committee will be able to decide on which to be adopted.....

so far - Inspired To Drum Drumming to Inspire (is the Slogan) selected.

Weckl Tees - putting everything in place - the www.soft.com.sg Drum Exchange Singapore - is also one of them at the front and the Back of Tees " The slogan as above"..

The only item I guess left is - Our Logo (which there are some as contributed here) all will be taken into consideration by the committee - but we hope we can have more - This is our Logo....and so very important.

By Thursday - Dear Committee Members - lets decide on which to adopt - after that we will let everyone here knows what we've pick....if everything is OK.

We will get the design to be printed on a Sample Tee ( SOft will be helping us on this), get a quote also, where we will let everyone knows the cost .....here per Tee.

During a meetup the sample tee will be shown to you all, you try the tees and see what size best fit you - - money will then be collected based on qty you place whatever size of tee you want then we go ahead and wait for the final product..

Thanks for all your contribution Bros/Sis

Option Here: If anyone has a Design on the way but need us to bring forward the date as in 12th September, please let us know till when - exception can be granted here in this case of course while waiting for your design to be completed...before we make final decision.

wow nice.. if you ask me, i'll take both!

but bro, in my opinion, would it be nicer to haf the slogan in italic and going though the drumsticks?? just a thought

and also we could do wif lesser circles in the front
coz wif that much circle, looks like alien's crop circles... heh heh
its either that or can shift them abit to the side of the T
errmm... just like singapore drumfest T

wat u think?

hey ppl. i think wat u guys are doing is absolutely awesome, and i'm all for it.by the way i'm new to soft and i haven't made any contributions to this thread yet. but i just thought maybe i could put in a suggestion. I like weckl-x's t-shirt designs especially the black one, but the front design is abit overkill, the drum circles are too much and a repetition of drum exchange singapore is quite unnecessary since the msg can be found at the back. i feel that the soft logo at the left chest should be there to be used as a corporate identity, and also since we are all part of soft. maybe u could just add the words drummer below it to show that we're drummers from soft. I'm just not a big supporter of big over-attract attention designs. Sorry if i offended anyone, that wasn't my objective, just wanted to share my opinion with u guys.

First, thank you Bro Weckl for taking out all those time to help us out here -though I know you are very very busy....

I do like the Circle-Thing (It's quite representative of us) - but true maybe less circles might look nicer......

Drum Exchange Singapore in Large Lettering - is very good at the Front - It Catches attention - and it's clearly communicated.

SO yes, we can forgo these wording at the back of Tees without repitition - but have the Slogan "Inspired To Drum Drumming To Inspire" instead and make this prominent......

Nevertheless - it was very well designed & creative I should say....I like it - maybe just some minor adjustment and admendment from Bro Weckl only here - The Tee-Shirt Looks Great in both Black & White.

We will be printing 2 Tees at end of day ( A white & a Black) - so you all can collect both...it will look nice........great job everyone......It's Comes From YOU ALL - it's your idea and we shall all adopt the one picked.

Latest Update:-

The Mapex Drum is now - - - Ready for Collection - It's with Alvin Of Music Lab have to be collected by Saturday - Alvin had changed all the Skin to Evans Gl somemore for us already...Wowwwwwwww .... but we need to collect the Kit ourself and we need a car lar (maybe by Taxi also can I guess) ?.....Can the Committee help me here...thanks - furthermore I have to arrange with the Ulu Pandan side to open the door so we can put the drums there........still couldn't get Bernard......Committee please call me....

I've just spoken to my bro and close friend - He is Augustime. Augustine is so kind that he say he will do it free (in a way sponsor us) for Soft Drum Exchange Singapore the Logo & Wordings on our Bass Drum (it's tough to cut I saw him done this before) ....... but I will have to take The Black Mapec Drum Reso to him ( we also have to buy our own White Bass Drum Reso - so we have can 2 different colour Drum Reso (more contrasting)- One to get ready for our next comming 2nd Drum Kit - so that both can to compliment our above Tee-Shirts in black and in white background. I think it will look very nice.eeeeee. and It's better he do it together for uniformity on a 22" Bass Drum Heads to ease trouble. - Here I have to go to his home too - to help in doing up the Logo for the Bass Drum at Town

I am very glad the Tee-Shirt is almost done - except for some minor adjustment to make it look better or more appealing.

PS:- For the Bass Drum Logo - I was wondering - I dont have enough space:- I think

we put either
in smaller letter "www.soft.com.sg" - or just the word "Soft" - pls advice here too, ........then follow by

Big Letters on the Bass Drum "Drum Exchange Singapore" - Can we use Orange Colour for "Drum Exchange"as standard - & Black letters for the word Singapore in a White Reso..and White Letters Singapore in a Black Reso? Please advice bros/sis? - Assuming this is ok - then the T-Shirt colour must also be similar as in common Identity altogether here.

Since this Mapex is Sponsor by Mapex Drums - It is only right we put the words "Sponsor By Mapex" at the Reso too.

The above will take up all the space I believed - leaving no rooms for "Inspired To Drum, Drumming To Inspire" already .....

Dear Committee & members

I just spoke to Bernard - We only have Weekdays

Tuesday Wednesday & Thurdays - where they will open up for Orchestra Rehersal at 8.00pm - Can we try to arrange to pick the kit up and put it there either one of these 3 days - I know it's very tight ( The Time) - but we have to move the Kit out from Music Lab by this Saturday - so balancing both the Time at Music Lab & ULu Pandan brings us down to these 3 days only - We need a Transport to shift the Kit there - Can someone help

PS: - and I hope we can make it on either Tues or Wed - cause My New Keyboardists and Singer for my Jazz Band will be with us for the 1st time on Thursday - I brought her in - so I have to be around cannot miss it

Thank You !

i can transport the drumset. no worries, let's fix a convenient time with alvin.

Hi James & Eric, just some details on the kit.

Its a kit that was used as a demo in The Music Lab (setup 2 days before drumfest before Greg Bisonnett came to visit). 5 Piece setup 22" bass drum, 10, 12" toms, 14" floor tom. Unfortunately, when the kit was delievered to me, the hi-hat stand was missing in the pack. But Terry has ordered a brand new stand which is already in the warehouse. He will hand it to me possibly by this weekend and I will hand it to Eric when I see you perhaps?

I have changed all the tom skins to Evans G2 clear (more durable) but not the bass drum and snare skins....cos I forgot I didn't have any left in the lab and have no time to go buy. But the current skins are still very playable...so no worries.

I will be in between 3-8pm tomorrow and the rest of the week should be in between 12 to 7pm.

Thank you James for helping out with the transportation. Thank you Alvin for the initiative to change the skins.

So are we transporting tomorrow? Let me know if my help is needed. I'm free up till 4.30pm
