DrumHeads & Tee-Shirts Design

My Buddy had just call me - he said he don't need the Black & the White Drumheads from me yet ( guess I have to buy an Evan or Remo Reso - in black & white both without any Drum Manufacturer Brand Names on it) - He is now helping us look at the Design (he is very Artistic - he design his own Tees, Bass Drum Logos, Refurnish his own drums, innovated his own Drum Tunning Digital Key) - and he is a good drummer too. He says he will also try his best to come up with a few Design (of course we decide which we pick at end of day not necessary his - but he will try to contribute here) - - - Let's wait for him also ok - He says need 3 weeks at least to come up with these few design....
He also told me there is a very good Tee shirt printer (with quality) and it's at somewhere near Far East Plaza - I will take the contact from him at a later stage.

I had just called Alvin of Swee Lee ( I told him about our Drum Exchange Thing) - so I said It's not for my own use.....if he could give me a slightly better discount for the 2 drumHeads (REMO) 1 black & 1 White for our Bass-Drum Logo-Used - he said ok - so I will be going down later this afternoon to get it - ...good. then I go back to office and work.

Alamat - Swee Lee got no stock lah - they just call me - Shit.ttttt

For Evans - They only have EQ - but It's Black and Clear - No White ones lah...

but RD, since your friend doesn't need the heads yet, then no need to hurry. sit a while and relax, bro, u've been doing a lot liao.

KUDOS to RD for doing the legwork.

Nah, the skins were just lying around in my studio so no big deal....but although only a week old, already got some awesome stick marks...too many people walking in and out banging on them.

UPDATES!!

We have successfully transported the Mapex drumkit to our home ground, Ulu Pandan CC Wind Symphony Room today! :D

Special thanks to Pro Musique and Music Lab for the awesome Mapex drumkit.

Many thanks to James for helping us transport the drums, and also RD, blissuicide, shred5 and MassageParlour for helping with the carrying and setting up.

SOFT Drum Exchange Singapore now has our very own drumkit! :D

A few pics:

On a side note, the Wind Symphony orchestra was practising while we were setting up the drumkit. They played a couple of big band swing numbers. The drummer was pretty darn groovy! :D

u all got make friend wif groovy drummer anot?? ask him come next exchange

thanks everyone for all the help... its great

Carrying the drums was not a big deal. We should pat the backs of

1) Eric for a shout out in this drum forum for a S.O.F.T drum kit.
2) Music Lab's Alvin for politically negotiated to get S.O.F.T our own drum
3) Pro Musique for sponsoring us
4) James for supporting S.O.F.T drummers and wasting his vehicle fuel to transport the drum.

the best effort I've done so far to get free stuff in my life is getting a pack of kuih

Some what my gut is telling me that S.O.F.T drummers will somehow in the future gets many perks. hmmph. Oh!!! that's my stomach growling to get breakfast..

Cheers

wasting his vehicle fuel to transport the drum

nah, not wasted lah. i'm sure if SOFT drummers are happy, he'll be happy too. plus it's mutually beneficial to the drummers and to SOFT that there's now a kit available for DES. everyone's happy! at most, he will never have to pay for his own kopi at future exchanges :smt003

thanks to all who made this possible...thank you thank you thank you
xoxoxo

Thanks guys. Sorry I couldn't go down last night because I was working. Just wondering, does mapex has stock cymbals or not?

Soft, your banners all very nice! I like the vertical banner.

MassageParlour, don't shy la. Why cover your face. We know you are there! Thank you bros!

Just to clarify, the music lab didn't sponsor the kit. ProMusique did.

I didn't do that much really, all I did was just speak to Terry (owner of ProMusique) - Whom I think is one of the nicest people I know in this industry- and helped set up a meeting for Eric to meet him. I think Terry was so generous because he saw the passion in Eric and I think Eric deserves all our respect!

And WOW....the banner looks really good!! Remind me to take a pic with the banner next time I drop by!! Haha...

Alvin ( Pearl Endorser - hahaha I can call him that now liao ) was actually the one who initiated speaking to Terry on the Drum Kit ( so we are lucky to get it 100% being sponsor really) should thanks Alvin for that actually - and now Gosh.hhhh we have our own Lovely Mapex 5pc Kit (It is really a very nice kit) - it's a QR Model - An Onyx Sparkle.eeee man. I love it. We put it right at the corner near a door where nobody will open one at the corner of the Orchestra Room. Next time we get big cloth to cover the Kit - cause it's Ours...Hehehehe !. (that's what the people there tell me to do).

Bliss, Shred5, MassagePalour, Mel80 & James - we were all there......I guess you all saw the Banner (a Vertical one and a Horizontal one) which James brought to show us - this is the one Soft put up when there is a Jam Session - Nice.eeeeeee isn't it......

Yes, James will help us do the Vertical and also the Horizontal Banner For " Drum Exchange Singapore " - upon confirmation of Final Design (as in our Tee-Shirt)...it's nice cause it's something like Plastic - not cloth - so rain or shine - our Banner Stands Bros/Sis.

PS: - just some feedback - my friend call me - he say wah - chai-lat, I dont have the software - I might need to go my friend place to do the design.....I think he is like going to do a Drum at a side-view angle (something like that - I'm not sure lah).....

He also told me - Drum Exchange Singapore must be BIG - so people can see - The wordings he has no problem - but he is not sure whether should there be a Logo/Design (assuming we have that at our Tee-Shirt) at the Bass-Drum-Reso - because it will have little space for that - and he can and have to go to a certain shop to cut the Logo (cannot do with bare hands one) - but once put onto the Bass Drum - it will look a little messy - because it is small - as we need the space for the wordings....well just wait lor - I also dont know now - but just keep everyone updated on what's happening along the way.....

PS: - Oh yes - anyone want to donate to Drum Exchange a "Drum Stool" or some Cymbal Stands ? - - - I think we need those to add-on to OUR Mapex Kit lol.

Oh I almost forgot - Singapore DrumFest - Tan Boon says - he will sponsor us a Black and also a White Bass Drum Reso - wah how nice.eeee of him too...good hor ?

This comming meetup - this is what we gonna do:-
(1) Tune up the Mapex Kit
(2) Polish Up the Kit - hehehe
(3) When done - Time for Drum Battle liao..Kekekeke

This whole thing really kick me up man - I think I better get my friend to do 5 Drum Heads instead - (never mind I donate another two - 1 black & 1 White Fibre Skin Reso) - together with our Mapex - We got 5 Drumheads ( 1 white Mapex, 1 White, 1 Fibre Skin and, 2 black) stipulatating " Drum Exchange Singapore " - They say we must THINK BIG right and Drum Exchange Singapore should be BIG ?. So.ooo nobody's knows whether or not we will oneday have the opportunity to ShowCase "Drum Exchange Singapore" in a big-way or not - but if we do, and we try hard we can for sure - - - - We are going to have 2 drum kit's there at Ulu Pandan - The other 3 Kit's - Well we might bring Individually (see who wants to bring lah - just one kit each) -

With 5 Kit's, Tees, Banners and a whole lot of Drummers from "Drum Exchange Singapore" - We gonna ROCK Orchard Road oneday man ....... I really wish this day will come - that will be great ..... I wish this dream will materialise ! - not a problem actually right Bros/Sis.

Hahaha the other 3 kit - only when we need we then bring out (they are personal kit after that bring back own home one lah - just fix the Drum Head only) depending on who want to bring lah if opportunity comes...

Ulu Panda will kick us out lah - if we really own 5 kits oneday and wants to put all 5 there (where got space) unless Hm.mmm - we share 50/50 the Venue Rental with them- then we definetely have a say of course - If not we have to move house liao - then James will buy a place for us to house Drummers & 5 Drums ... Kekekekeke :smt040 :smt040

Seriously I am still waiting for them to come back to me on the 50/50 thing (meaning how much I have to pay - if I share half the cost of rental with them) - but they discuss discuss - still haven't come back to me and I have check with them 3 times already actually...

Drum Shed - Bro Plainsman & Marc - wow.wwww can really read each pther mind har - that's how close brothers are here - Great !

Importance Of Having a Strong Identity as in " Drum Exchange Singapore"

Another very good friend of mine (they play in the DrumFest semi-Finals at 3.00pm afternoon during the breaktime-just spoke to me 15 minutes ago...he says:-

He has orginally a group of Drummers (not like we all type one) but now left 12 members - but all very experience are looking for a Drummer - and the 1st thing he thinks about is - "Drum Exchange Singapore" - He needed a Drummer and will pick from our Exchange......I am very happy to hear that really. But this will be in 5 to 6 months time....he will come to the exchange.

His Group all Drummers play these drums: - Djembe, Conga, Ashika, Dununs, Dhol, Bongo, Dounbek, Taiko Drums and some other Percussion instruments.

They are now into Fusion Rythmn - Alfo, Indian, Chino, Latin, Salsa, Masour & Ayu (Middle Eastern Rythmn) - currently they have been offered 2 to 3 Engagement per week) easily - they are ready but time is the problem for their members.

He says: - he need and will take one of our Drummer to be their Drummer to play with them on a Full-Drum Kit later-on and yes they had agreed that their Drummer (which is one of you when the time comes) shall use our Bass Drum Logo/Identity - "Singapore Drum Exchange" whenever you play - also during that time after he takes the drummer - He share with us, bring his members up too to exchange ideas and they can even teach us how to play those other Percussion & Drums they had - FREE. It's like a Sharing thing also here.......so that we can have an idea on other kinds of Drums - adopt some ideas from them and hopefully we can be more innovative in our drumming.

About Road Show and such - this group have contacts with quite a number of Events Organisers - so it's good (that's why they can have 2 to 3 engagement anytime per week) - I hope they are willing to share this Lobang with us too by then (though I don't know yet now) - We wanna ShowCase Drum Exchange Singapore too - bring ourself out of Soft and Ulu Pandan at times .

6 months Time Bros/Sis - We will be ready by then, with our Identity Up in a way............. I look forward to more groups like these so willing to work and collaborate with US - " DRUM EXCHANGE SINGAPORE "

Cheers !

PS: - Monthly Meetup once a month (5 hours) is now deem ok (though I know, like everyone not enough like that) going home time Hahahahaha ! -But as we grow, with more Incomming Activities - I am sure, we need to negotiate with Ulu Pandan Orchestra Group on a 50/50 Sharing on the Venue - - - - - - It's good - - - - the last time they told me - If agreeable by their Committee - The Venue will only belongs to both "them" & "Drum Exchange Singapore" - -no other groups will be sharing the current venue - Let's hope all the best will come in favour of us.... Cheers !
